Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A month or so ago, one of my AC lines was dented by a tire repair shop as a result of improperly lifting my car. Nonetheless, the shop filed a claim against their insurance company based on a quote that I received form a Porsche dealer in NYC. (Manhattan Motor Cars) Total estimate was 5 hrs of labor @ $140 = $700 and $250.00 in parts. Approx $1,000.00 with tax. Today I received an offer to settle at $500 The main discrepancy that they point out is the labor charges, but not the hrs. involved but the $140 per hr that Porsche is charging. The insurance Co. claims that the per hr. charge should be $40!? No one will work on a hyundai for that amt of money with half decent equipment, let alone a Porsche. Has anyone had dealings with this type of situation? Is there some regulation or rights that I have to be able and substanitate a higher rate, as the car should be serviced by a certified Porsche Shop? The name of the insurance company is Utica National Insurance Group.

POST 2Original post

I would offer to take the car to any authorized Porsche service facility that they can find that will do the labor for $40/hr. (within reasonable driving distance, of course).

POST 3Original post

talk to your own insurance agent. sometimes if you file a claim with your insurance company, they'll drag it out of the other insurance co. none of them like to pay very much...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Called the insurance Co back and they are willing to negotiate. Lets see on Monday.

POST 5Original post

There shouldn't be ANY negotiation. Tell the guys that did the damage that they will be responsible for the difference....if there is any. Why should you be left holding the bag for someone elses mistake?
