Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The RMS was replaced right after I bought the car and a new motor at 10,000 because the RMS wouldn't seal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In my search for the ideal 996 coupe, I've found a certified one at a dealer with 13k miles. The service history identifies a number of things, most don't seem important except they just did RMS as part of the certified. I've read all the rms posts - given the seemingly randomness of RMS, should I pass or not? Looking for opinions.
Other items, not sure if they're that unusual:
Remote control electrical
Throttle body/stiff binding (x2)
Mass air flow electrical
Valve f crankcase leaking
Solenoid hydraulic oil leaking
Wire harness front wire node
Sealing ring oil leaking- rms
Cover f camshaft oil leaking
Clutch boost spring noise
Power wind mechanical
Radio electrical
For an 02 w/ 13K thats a lot of stuff leaking including the RMS issue...even if it is a certified P/car you may find yourself in the shop more than you drive...if it were me I'd fold 'em and leave the table...
Good luck...
Wow! My 200 C2 had 11k when I bought it and not one thing wrong...I sold It at 23k miles and only thing they found was cig lighter not working!
RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
I bought mine certified a year ago, 2002 with 1800 miles. The RMS was replaced right after I bought the car and a new motor at 10,000 because the RMS wouldn't seal. If it develops an RMS issue that early, chances are that it might never seal.
BTW 18,000 miles now and the new motor is eeping out the RMS. I don't want to tell them because I don't want to lose my car for another 2 months!!!
I bought mine with 4k on it and it already had an RMS done along with other oil leaks repaired. I had the RMS done again this past summer and Inow I smell oil burning, I guess it's the cam cover leaking. It's still under warranty but it's a PIA to bring it back in. I agree with the other guys here, keep looking, lots of preowned 996's in the market.
it is not really helpfull ( according to my opinion ) writing down each one of us, what kind of probs our car have and what is the mileage of it....
every car has its unique history...there is a guy in this forum who pais $$$ for less than 2000m.....so what? really bad to hear that but that is true....
someone else only had to replace his cigar lighter.....
i found probs such as:

For an 02 with 13K toooooooo many and toooooo scary to deal with.......run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
