Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car was in the Porsche dealer today for the pesky air bag light staying on. The dealer said that both buckles and a wire harness modification is needed to fix the fault. I was quoted $712. for the fix. I've read here that Porsche tends to cover this even if out of warranty (mine is). I called PCNA and they referred me back to the dealer who can contact the Porsche area rep. My question is, does anyone have any experience in negotiating this repair and how do I go about it? It seems that this is very common. Any tips anyone? Also to top off a great day, they were replacing a windshield seal and proceeded to crack my windshield! They're paying for that obviously, but were b-ing about giving me a loaner as the windshield will take a couple of days to come in. Great day eh? Thanks for the help. Fred

Go here: http://www.geocities.com/esklut/Erics996.html and click the airbag light link. I had this annoyance on my '99, and it was one of the early problems. PCNA is WELL AWARE of this flaw, and should pay to fix your car. There were numerous TSB's on it over the life of the car. Can't believe it is just now happening. If needed, get with your district service rep, show him this document (from the link) and find out why they won't cover it.
