Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. We have this lovely 996 Carrera '02 in our garage: The winter wheels are Sport Designs. It has lowered suspension and at the moments also 7mm spacers front. The specs of the Sport Designs: Front - 18x8, 52mm Offset Rear - 18x10, 65mm Offset Now I'm on the market for 18" summer wheels. The first set of tires are going to be 225/40 and 285/30 (I already have them) My problem is the sizing politic of aftermarket wheels. 11" wide wheel sounds too much for 285 tire. And what about the offsets, I know you can manage too big offsets with spacers but what about if I buy accindentally wheels with too low offsets. #1 BBS offers the Lemans wheel for the 996 in sizes 9x18" and 11x18". I think they are too wide for 225 and 285 tires ? But they offer the same Lemans wheels with sizes 8.5x18" ET56 and 10x18" ET50 for the 993. I think those sizes and offsets sounds pretty good, but will those kind of wheels made for 993 otherwise fit for 996 ? #2 The other option is Cargraphic's Racing Wheel. They offer 8.5x18" ET40 and 10.5x18" ET52 for the 996 3.4L. 10.5" wide sounds great, but what about the offsets ? For example the front offset of 40mm, is it too low ? For the 993 they offer the same wheels with ET46 which sounds much better. Again the question, will wheels made for the 993 fit ? Also the car is the newer 3.6L model and for the 996 3.6L Cargraphics only offers 11x18" ET62 which sounds too wide for 285 tire, is it only marketing or does the facelifted 3.6L model need different specs for wheels ? Okay, am I the only one struggling with this ? After all these are famous companies. (Please understand I'm located in Europe so many famous US wheel makers are a bit of out of the question for me.)
