Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The Porsche specialists I use had the same problem with my 996 C4.
Leading evidence: 'Use had the same problem' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend above by moving the car back and forth' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

already tried that...even used a rubber mallet to try to knock it loose.

Suggestion
It appeared that salt had accelerated dissimilar metal corrosion between the aluminum wheel and iron hub causing swelling to tighten the close tolerance fit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You're not the only one Siberian, I had to wiggle mine back and forth at the same time pulling the wheel out but eventually that did the trick.
So I went to swap the wheels on my 996 today....got all the lugnuts off but the wheel won't budge. Am I missing something??? I feel like a school girl on the side of the road....
I've had that happen with a wheel or two before but never all four. I've always just rocked them top to bottom and side to side to break them loose. Just make sure you have the car on jack stands before you put too much grunt into it.
The Porsche specialists I use had the same problem with my 996 C4. They loosened the bolts on all 4 wheels and rolled the car back and forwards until the wheels eased there "grip". They then put some form of grease on before replaceing them to prevent it happening again.

Another thought. If you have a floor jack, raise the car and set if down on jack stands, then use your floor jack under the tire postiioned under the inside edge. raise the jack, with a 2 x 4 between the jack and the tire, until the pressure on the tire starts to move the car off the jack stand, but not all the way off the stand. The wheel should break loose before holding the weight of the car.
I tried the above on my BMW and it still wouldn't break the fit off the wheel centre to the hub. I took an 8 ft. 2x4 laid under car athwartships & sledge hammered the wheel outwards from the opposite side. It took an amazing amount of force. It appeared that salt had accelerated dissimilar metal corrosion between the aluminum wheel and iron hub causing swelling to tighten the close tolerance fit.
A spirited drive around the block with the lugs removed should get all 4 wheels off. Happened on another car to me. Did what is recommended above by moving the car back and forth with lugs slightly lossened.
You're not the only one Siberian, I had to wiggle mine back and forth at the same time pulling the wheel out but eventually that did the trick. Hope you like the new wheels.
Thanks love 'em! Got the clear markers installed as well...look sharp with the silver car/ wheels/ markers combo. Looking for clear headlights and taillights now. Then I should be all set cosmetically..
