Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced my 04 C4S springs with 04 C4S row springs.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 04 c4s springs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dot specs, or maybe' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 04 c4s springs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think that is due to DOT specs, or maybe so that the vehicle can do cruising at the parking lots (bump stops to slow down traffic's speed).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am sure everybody knows that the 996 USA version rides higher than the European version: why? I think that is due to DOT specs, or maybe so that the vehicle can do cruising at the parking lots (bump stops to slow down traffic's speed). Now, I heard also that the coil springs on the USA version are not different (longer) but actually a spacer has been used in order to increase the hight of the 996. Is this just a rumor or it is actually so? If so, I think it would not be too difficult to take them out, check the aligment/camber, and enjoy the 996 the way it was meant to be originally. Am I dreaming of what?

I would be interested in this asnwer as well. If there is JUST a spacer and the springs are the same as RoW.....then why would somebody buy RoW springs? Better yet, why would they be sold if they were the same?
I replaced my 04 C4S springs with 04 C4S row springs. (PS/ NO such thing as spacers) I studied all options; aftermarket, sport, M030, X74, bla, bla, bla. ROWs were $450. I found that the row is 20mm lower front, 10mm lower rear. I didnt know if it would be enough to notice. I measured ground to fender top before. Then put them on. Sure enough, it measured exactly that. But it was noticably lower, looking good, but not dragging the ground. You can tell its lowered at first sight. Now the front and rear are equal height (26 1/4) and the ride is as expected, firmer, tighter, but still pleasant.
My dealer realigned the car using factory method of finding cars level and calculating the correct specs. Same as starting from scratch on an unknown suspension.
So the usa spring is different from the rest of world version springs. Thats why they call them rest of world. USA bumper height is mandated to be ... whatever measurement, so they jack up the spring and raise the car.
