They are going to have to be replaced every 1-2 years, so why pay high rates if you can find a tire that performs similar to the expensive ones.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And if so are you having any issues? I have been given a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports in pristine condition and would hate not to use them. Next to some old Bridgestone RE730's I have that are 265/30/18 there is barely a discernable difference. The Michelin's are very slightly taller. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

I was running 285/30-18 on my last set of wheels with no problem. Wheels were Sport Design. I would think they will be ok to use.

POST 3Original post

I run 285/30 18" Pirelli P-Zero Rossos on my Sport Classic II (18x10 rear). They're great.

POST 4Original post

I am with a set of S03 - Thus far - 29K miles on them, still holding up great, in the wet they are awesome.

POST 5Original post

285/35/18 tires are/were an optional tire size available on the '04 996. I bought my car used with 6,450 miles on the clock and it had 285/35/18 Pirelli P-Zeros on it. No negative issues about the tire size.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Tim, Are you sure they were 35's and not 30's? I have heard that the 285/30/18's were an option on later 996's. But the 35's are slightly taller. I just want to make sure because I have heard stories about the ABS light coming on etc... Thanks!

POST 7Original post

Are you sure they aren't 285/30-18? The 996 never had 285/35-18 as OEM standard or optional.

POST 9Original post

Redhatcab and Snaproll - my mistake, you are correct, they were 285/ 30 /18. I don't see why the 35 would cause a problem.

POST 10Original post

I run 285/30 18" Pirelli P-Zero Rossos on 18 996 Turbo wheels - no problem

POST 11Original post

285.30.18's Pilot Sports with no issues on my car.

POST 12Original post

I am running 285.35.18 Sumitomo's on my Champion RG-5 wheels. Great tires at a great price!

POST 13Original post

a little off topic, but what is the widest front wheel/tire combo you can fit on a 996 (not widebody c4s)? and what offset on the wheels?

POST 14Original post

On 18" wheels (8" wide front and 10" wide rear), I believe 235 front and 295 rear tire treadwidth is about as wide you would want to go on a C2. However, different wheel widths and offsets would impact the firment. Below are two links, one for calculating relative wheel widths and offsets and the other for calculating tire sizes. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...bmit&reset=yes My '04 C2 came with eh following wheel/tire sizes: Front Wheels - 18" x 8" with 50mm offset Tires - 225/40/18 Rear Wheels - 18" x 10" with 50mm offset Tires - 285/30/18

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am running 285.35.18 Sumitomo's on my Champion RG-5 wheels. Great tires at a great price! Fro...so yours are 35's and not 30's? Any issues? They look good!

POST 16Original post

The Sumi's are great tires - no issues at all. The tread design is very similar to the Goodyears I had previously. Also got a great price on them from Tire rack!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I need to clarify my question. I am asking about the sidewall. The normal sidewall for a 285 section width 18 inch 996 rear tire would be a 30 to equal stock(285/ 30/ 18). I am asking if anyone is running a 285/ 35 /18. Which means they are a bit talle (.5 inch) or have a larger diameter than stock. If you are running this size are you having any issues with ABS lights and other stuff like that. Thanks again...

POST 18Original post

My Sumitomo's are only available in the 285/35/18 size, so I really did not have a choice. As stated earlier, no issues. I look at tires as non-permanent equipment. They are going to have to be replaced every 1-2 years, so why pay high rates if you can find a tire that performs similar to the expensive ones.

POST 19Original post

fro: did you have to change the front tire size since now your rear tire size is taller? Or are you using the same factory front tire size?
