Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got a new set of HP Plus pads for my 996 and while the pad shape is right and the hole lines up, they don't have the 'shoulders' my stock pads and EBC pads do, is this ok?

POST 2Original post

bnewport, I had them installed last week on my 01 996 and I am running them this weekend 19th-21st at VIR. My mechanic disconnected the brake pad wear sensor (he said it would melt) but other than that no problems with the install. Be wary though on your first few runs on the track. I was in a "train" and after 3 laps didn't build enough speed to heat my brakes and tires. The first time I got up over 120 I started braking too late and it felt like I was on ice! The brakes were firm but they didn't hold. I flew about 70 yards off the track (VIR turn 1 after the front straight). No damage. The next session I rode my brakes a while got them hot and I guess burned off some of the crap (smelled like it anyway) on the surface of the brakes. The rest of Friday and all day today (Sat) the brakes were great. Definitely an improvement over OEM. Anyway hope something in my long reply was helpful. k

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My mechanic ties back the sensor cables with zip ties. Did you bed the pads? is that why they performed poorly initially?

POST 4Original post

My mechanic (who is a regular at track events) said he bedded them for me. Based on the mileage when I picked the car up, I believe him. k
