Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hello!!
very nice forum here! loads of help for my porsche!
well, i have a 996 turbo, from 2001
I bought this BIRD Cupholder set with the storage armrest...
honestly... piece of crap.
i have remove it, but i cant get the Cylinder lock to stay in place... whats the trick for this?
thanks a lot !

Welcome SAID.
The lock cylinder for the center console is held in with three torx screws from underneath. You will have to remove the console to gain access. Kind of a pain.
here's a

on how to remove the console. You don't have to remove the shift ****, and be careful not to scratch the finish on the handbrake.
Good luck, Brian
THanks for the info...
problem is that i dont want to remove the lock housing... i have the tumbler outside the housing, the only thing i want to do is to put the tumbler inside the housing and make it remain there.. hahaha
is there any trick? or i have to remove all the housing to be able to put the tumbler?
thanks a lot
I just looked at it and it doesn't seem like it will just pop in/out. Might be a release on the lock housing but that obviously would require taking out the console.
If I take the console out of mine (which I have plans to do) I'll check. Will prolly be a week or so.
Just a shot in the dark but you have tried just sticking it in, with the key in it of course.
And put up a gol-dang picture man. Makes everything seem better.
Brian
hahaha!
i have tried with the key... it locks the console, put still the tumbler can be removed... i will try to take some pictures of it... is not that interesting.. only a tumbler that wont hold still!
thanks to all of you
the cup holder system.. is crap.. and the Locking mechanism... is a cheap 1 dollar lock from home depot... you dont get your OEM lock system.
Its also more comfortable without the armrest, only advantage of it is that you get more space for stuff
dont buy it..
