Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone had a draw on a battery then renders it dead after 3-5 days of not being started. Seems to be in central locking system, or the system that does the final close on the windows. Not as prevalent if the car is locked up. There is NOTHING LEFT ON-LIKE A LIGHT OR ANYTHING. I have pulled all the fuses and I still have a 12 volt draw. Any ideas-Thanks-2000 996 C2

POST 2Original post

Short in the system? You should be able to isolate the cause of the draw with a multi meter set on Amps. You can remove a fuse and then see if there is a "Draw" on that system in amps. You can look at what that fuse is supposed to do and figure out if it makes sense for that system to have a draw when the car is parked. (Security System would be normal but headlights NOT) Good Luck...

POST 3Original post

A bad ignition switch killed my battery, presented with only one symptom, the radio would never turn off. Supposedly bad ignition switches are a known problem??? who knows.

POST 4Original post

I had an ignition switch problem as well - radio wouldn't turn off and battery would die in a couple days. I don't think this is a warranty item under CPO, but my dealer replaced it free, as the symptom with the radio not turning off was noticed by me when picking up the car when I bought it. It was 8pm when I picked it up, so the sales guy didn't know what it was linked to and the service manager was gone. Interesting that this issue got past the CPO inspection....
