Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Now I don't know how the Alpine aftermarket stuff changes the sound (bought the car this way), but other than needing a sub-woofer, it sounds fine to me.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The Hi/Fi system does not come with an equalizer. It does come with drivers in the door with an enclosure, an amp (small) in front trunk, rear speakers and possibly different speakers in the dash (not sure on that one). With no Hi/Fi you get map pockets in the doors where the driver/enclosure goes. The DSP option offers a type of equalizer...basically electronic sound fields
The Hi-Fi Sound system gives you a system wothy of sound from a corolla (actually, I think a corolla might be better)
Seriously. It has to be the worst system ever. I drove in my buddies Honda Pilot the other night and it was better than my 996 with hi-Fi... awful, just awful
My '99 996 came with the Hi-Fi option and a CDR220. I immediately yanked it out and went with an Alpine CDA-9847, Alpine PRF240 amp, Boston Acoustic coax's (yeah coax), and JL Audio 6.5 subs in an enclosure behind the seat.
Here is a picture of the hi-fi option. Look below the pop-up screen. With those buttons you can customize the type of sound you want, concert hall, pop, etc. I like alot of echo so I just dial it up.

Much better than the Bose in my Corvette.
You are correct.. What Shark is showing is DSP... I know.. I ordered it on my 2000 C2.. (what a waste of money it sucks as does the rest of the sound system)...
Hi Fi and DSP are two seperate options... You can't have DSP without Hi Fi though..
My guess is the CD storage unit from the look of the plastic surround border.
Go with the carbon fiber surround there, Shark; it looks phenomenally better.
My Boxster S had DSP, what a piece of junk!
Anyways I appreciate all the input guys, I hope this car has a CDR220 (the faceplate is missing so I need to replace it)
Yes, CD storage.
Yeah, the CF version is on my list......donations accepted
On my options list there was only one code for audio.....but since I have a TT, the hi-fi part was standard?
I like the sound, but I guess I'm not an audiophile
