whether or not it is worth it in terms of pure numbers, is debatable and only an engine dyno and track test time will solve that one.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any insight or FYI info on a DYI install of the fabspeed cold air box on a 2002 C2 996 and turbo exhaust tips would be appreciated. Not really expecting too much from the Cold air box...any comments on this are also welcome. thanks in advance. Ted

POST 2Original post

exhaust tips shouldn't be an issue, just pricey for tips, i'll confirm this 2morro tho. the fabspeed cold air box should in theory yeild a negligable power gain, and increase airflow in the intake. the new unit is heat sheilded so sucking up hot air shouldn't be as big an issue. PM me about the tips and cold air intake (i might have a better solution).

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

how about CEL lights? any issues with the c a b ?? how about the sound with it? any change? I have GHL exhaust loud , even length collector tube headers, and a new engine...sometime i wonder if these things are even worth it......what do you think...worth it or not?

POST 4Original post

Cold Air Intakes and Oiled Filters (i.e. K&N and BMC) have been rumored to produce some check engine lights (especially on the turbo's i believe). this might be due to a dirty MAF sensor, which can be cleaned with contact cleaner. The CEL can be cleared with a simple OBDII detector (like 60-100$) as well, thus avoiding a trip 2 the dealer. For what it's worth, i'm using a BMC Rechargable filter which is a higher flowing oiled filter and have yet to have a CEL after 3 years. some get them, some don't. whether or not it is worth it in terms of pure numbers, is debatable and only an engine dyno and track test time will solve that one. If a mod improves the feel of the car, the car's ability to set ur senses on edge and to make u all giddy when you drive it, then i think it is worth it. Even if an exhaust only gives me like 5HP, i'd still do it. My 400$ SSK is a fantastic mod because it makes the car rediculously fun. I got the GT3 consol delete because it looks very nice in my opinion, i basically bought a 200$ piece of carpet. was it worth it to me? very much so.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i agree with you...i have the bmc filter and have not had any issues at all....i also have GHL loud exhaust just installed, new engine clutch fly wheel, rowm030, ssk ,even lenght headers with collector...so these are the last 2 things.....not getting the evolution v flow as the dealer keeps telling me to stay away...not worth it and too many CEL issues and really not much of any gain.... seat of the pants dyno is what works for me.... Hope the mufflers break in and deepen in sound...when i put the headers on, everything changed...had the car a week with once nice day to drive it before going into storage...oh yeah even a new cab top just put on....do you have the Lloyds mats at a decent price?

POST 6Original post

i never really looks into mats. what's so special about these lloyds ones? got a link 2 the manufacturer?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

apparently nice and thick and much better quality than porsche and they are authorised with all the logos....Ted

POST 8Original post

ted..i have mats that look like this: comes with 4 pieces (just like OEM), price is about 199.50$CDN

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what is the carpet quality like? thicker than stock?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

also how do they stay down? with the metal bar? as well is the porsche logo embroidered into the carpet? thanks Ted
