Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
Have a pressure test done to pinpoint the cause/source of the leak..and as above members have already suggested, culprit is most likely the expansion tank.
Leading evidence: 'most likely the expansion tank' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'most likely the expansion tank' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace aos easier' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Mine was already replaced when I got the car though, I just removed it to make changing the AOS easier.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Parked the car last night and when I got up I saw a puddle under the left muffler. Went to work leaving her in the garage. When I came home I look at her and took the below pictures. I see that a hose clamp below the reserve is corroded yellow. I have searched and it seems to be a common problem with the reserve or hoses.
no warning lights on the dash. The temp and oil pressure looked normal.
What do you guys think?
Is this a DIY?

From that area best guess is expansion tank. Is yours white, or yellowing in color? Also, which number cap do you have? I think the latest cap is 04, so it could be that, but my best guess would be expansion tank.

Old cap, old tank. The tank cracking is a very common problem, and the caps going out is also common. You can try the cap first (path of least resistance) but your tank is yellowing pretty bad, so I would believe it has probably started a small crack. Either way, you will want to get addressed definitively before driving again, as you don't want the tank to have a large blow out and have the entire system lose coolant while you are driving it...that would suck. Also looks like you still have old coolant (which would make sense) the new Porsche coolant is a pink/orange color.

I just had this R/R done very recently and opted to also include (in addition to new coolant reservoir): new t-stat, serpentine belt and WP.
The caps are up to iteration #xxx... 447. 04 now. Yours ends in #xxx...447.00, that is the original cap #.
Your reservoir is probably the problem. It starts out white but sitting right above the muffler it gets toasty brown and brittle. I think the 02 has the larger tank, if so it is still a DIY but more of a pain in the butt. You might have to loosen the rear engine mounts and drop the engine down a little to get clearance.
I would try a DYI on this one. My dealer charged me like $700.00 to replace the tank and cap.
Mine looked just like the photo here and leaked just like these attached photos........It was a cracked expansion tank at fault.
Thanks everyone.
It was a cracked expansion tank at fault.
Replaced the Tank and Cap - All better now.
Took it to my Indy since I was worried about dropping the motor.
Changing out the coolant tank is not fun, IMHO! $700 seems way steep to me, but I would have paid $300, if I needed to. Mine was already replaced when I got the car though, I just removed it to make changing the AOS easier.
Parts were at 150 and the labor was 300.00. I did not think the cost was that bad.
Yes, I would have love to try to tackle it on my own but when your limited to tools and no jack sometimes it is just easier to pay someone. What really scared me was dropping the engine a few inches. I do small things like the oil pressure sending unit, oil changes, stereo install, and aluminum pedals. MAybe one day I will graduate to bigger DIY items.

Studied the DIY write-ups/watched the videos about WP/ET R/R and felt OK to tackle the job. But when my indie said $580 TOTAL (pressure test, install new tank, WP, belt and t-stat and bleed), I whipped out my plastic and asked where do I sign
P.S. Culprit on mine was also a crack on the backside (facing the sheetmetal) of the coolant reservoir, impossible to see on visual inspection
I was all set to get the
OTHER
t-stat but my indy insisted staying with OEM...actually hinted at refusing to do the install if I went with the low-temp alternative (something about the ECU works best with OEM)
