next...and I mean this is the nicest way...that paint could really use a professional correction/polish/clean/wax - the car will really POP with some time spent or a really serious pro getting his/her hands on it

if you want a slightly used K&N filter with about 4000 miles, I could sell it at a discount + shipping.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Watching this forum for last 4-6 weeks as I've been evaluating 996s, and a few other cars as well. Pulled the trigger on an '02 C4 Cab last week. (pic below)
Won't go into a lot of detail about cars evaluated but not purchased, things discovered in PPI, IMS fears, etc... Suffice it to say, posts & insights from this group were extremely helpful during the purchase process so thank you.
C4 has been a real treat to drive even with just a few days of ownership. I was originally a 993 C4S fan but the lines & driving experience of the 996 were better suited for me. Have been fortunate to drive some nice cars -- including a Ferrari California around Sears Point a couple of years ago. C4 is more fun IMHO, even on my local streets.
I won't end up making a lot of mods to this car -- it's pretty much stock -- as others in family will use it. If I can save my pennies there might be another one in my future that I can get more creative with.
One Q: Is K&N filter a worthwhile upgrade? (just filter for stock airbox, not the intake kit)
Look forward to many months & years in community ...
Welcome. Don't know the A to your Q. But I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you out. I'm thinking about a second 996, seems my wife would quite like a cab.
Cheers
Rob
Nice car and great choice. I'm sure a couple of mods will be forthcoming, these cars are impossible to leave alone.
Enjoy and welcome to the club......
Welcome Carlos, nice looking C4 cab. Try a search about the K&N product. Many will tell you the trouble is over oiling the filter and perhaps optimistic HP gains, but some love it.
welcome - short answer HELL NO on the filter
hope that was subtle enough
next...and I mean this is the nicest way...that paint could really use a professional correction/polish/clean/wax - the car will really POP with some time spent or a really serious pro getting his/her hands on it
to me it looks like someone has been "taking care of it" by washing it incorrectly and often
just sayin'
black is a great color, worth the effort!!
enjoy the car!
congrats as well. Nice looking car. I also vote no on the K&N. I currently have one in my car, a replacement for the stock filter not a Cold Air Intake system. No noticeable improvements and while I haven't seen any oiling of the intake or MAF, I wouldn't do it again and most likely will switch back sometime this year.
So... if you want a slightly used K&N filter with about 4000 miles, I could sell it at a discount + shipping.
Thanks all for the suggestions & comments.
-- Mostly "no" on K&N; muffler upgrade sounds worthwhile; suspension is a maybe down the road.
Ivangene, you're right about the paint -- needs some TLC. Car currently looks like it was abandoned at a braille convention. Will get some attention on that!
Have already saved clear side-markers to project list but good to hear some differing viewpoints. Will post some before/after pics if that moves forward.
Clear consensus from everyone: drive the $#@% out of the car!
