I paid ~$700 for the four replica wheels and replacing just one will cost about $300.

So $650 to replace not including the tire that went down (sidewall ripped like a can opener all the way around) with it, so add another $300 for the rubber and mounting/balancing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've seen lots of 997 turbo replica wheels, but a few reputable dealers are selling them. I've seen Rottec and WheelDynamics both selling theses. Is anyone currently using the Turbo replica wheels and care to give a real world long term review on your thoughts?
Other than the OEM vs "Fake" and Cast vs Forged debate, I'm interested in what daily street only use is like with these wheels.
Thanks
Street use is fine for the casual cruiser but you will take a bit of a hit on throttle response, acceleration, braking due to the heavier rotating weight. IIRC, the reps I was looking at before was something like 26lbs f / 30lbs r for the 18's. Not sure on the 19's.
If you're a cruiser and like the style, then they should be fine.
If you're more into performance, there are better options IMO.
I have to agree with the above. There are lots of OE stuff you might find some for sale at close to the same cost. If you get a replica they will be fine for plain daily stuff. I would not use them on performane drive such as DE or AutoX asyou just don't have the security that they are up to thoes kinds of stress. FWIW I wold look into wheels such as Victor Equipment or Forgestar. They are rotary forged whch is a cheaper process and have nearly the same weight and strength as a expense forged wheel at a cost just a few bucks more than a replica wheel.
I use them for winter/snow tire. It saves on the abuse for my factory 996 Carrera wheels. Last year I cracked one of the factory wheels -- Yep factory cast alloy wheels will crack so don't overpay -- and the cheapest factory replacement wheel I found was $500 and it still needed to be refinished. So $650 to replace not including the tire that went down (sidewall ripped like a can opener all the way around) with it, so add another $300 for the rubber and mounting/balancing. I ordered the 997 Turbo replicas as winter beaters and right away gas mileage went down about 10-15% because of the extra 10#'s per corner....and yep one of them cracked just like the factory wheel. I paid ~$700 for the four replica wheels and replacing just one will cost about $300. No discounts for single wheel replacements.
Moral of the story get pressure cast alloys like the pricier of the BBS alloys (not the cheaper BBS) or spend the money on the forged. If you live where it snows and there are pot holes cheap cast alloys will not hold up. I'm still ahead but if another replica wheel cracks next winter it would have been smarter to go for the better wheel from the start. And hopefully if it does crack it doesn't take the expensive snow tire with it.
