Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need to disconnect the battery to change the head light switch that went bad on my 2003 C4S. I have the following questions: 1) Is there anything I need to do before I disconnect? 2) What do I need to do after I reconnect the battery? 3) And, Do I need to disconnect the battery to change the light switch? I already have a problem with the driver side door window not staying down when I open the door. It happened the last time the mechanic disconnected the battery to get the ECU out.But that is a different topic.

POST 2Original post

To reconnect battery: Turn on ignition for 1 min (do not start eng.), then turn off for at least 10 secs. Start car after and that's all you need to do. Window: Likely a bad door lock or also called latch. Renntech.org has a great DIY to remove door panel first, then latch. Hopefully you won't have to replace vapor barrier between panel and door. If you do, it is about $90. Cdn likely less for US. Goo luck! Martin

POST 3Original post

The 03's shouldnt have that problem (HL switch). Thats odd.

POST 4Original post

With a C4 you should fill the fuel tank. Turbo and C4 tanks straddle the front differential. Fuel level in the remote part of the tank is inferred, no direct reading. If it is below the "ridge" in the saddle tank you run the risk of having to take it to the dealer to get it recalibrated. You will have to reset the windows. Put them all of the way down and hold for 5 secc. Then same all of the way up. That resets the window limits. There is another thread on here that goes into more detail. I have an 03 C2 that I have disconnected the battery on a couple of times. The windows were the only thing that I had to do. The other things on the list took care of themselves. read this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...cal-reset.html
