Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've noticed an odd problem when I fill my car up with gas. Once complete the electronic meter shows one bar on the oil level. I know that there's oil in it as I checked the dipstick and at the start of the trip the electronic display showed sufficient oil. It happens though only when I fill the car with gas. If I turn the car off and restart the oil display goes back to normal and says the correct oil level. Does anyone know why this is or has seen it happen to them? Thanks in Advance, Jeff

POST 2Original post

yea, cuz you left the key in.... just remove the key at fill up - I noticed the same thing... wierd but consistant

POST 3Original post

It is normal after you get gas for the display to show it. It will always look low because the oil has to drain back down to the sump.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm pretty sure I've taken the key with me. Next fill up I'll really watch whats going on. The very first time this happened I shut the car off right away thinking the oil level was at 1 bar as indicated. Powered the car back up and it showed fine, checked the oil and it was fine. Started and drove home without incident. This latest time I knew the oil level was physically ok and the 1 bar showed up. I left the engine running and it stayed like that for about a minute. Then switched back to the clock display. I don't have an owners manual as I think it has something to do with the car trying to tell me something minor. ( I know... like you just filled up ) Maybe not though. Thanks for your help
