It was an interesting time - that's one of the places I learned to apply my hobby in a job - I used to be a jack of all trades, and backed up their **** mini computer, and maintained the small network of DOS computers running DOS WordPerfect and DOS Lotus 123 at the time.

I use Cardstar ,and it's OK, but I usually just resort to giving them my phone number at the register.

Probably an OSHA violation now, but at the time it was just doing business.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My keychain was getting out of control - Porsche key, Veloster keyless FOB, work VPN FOB, Bank FOB, eBay/PayPal FOB, and of course keys for locks in general - it was a mess and bulky.
I looked for a solution on Amazon, and ended up getting this product from troika.de (English site below)
http://www.troika.org/en/produkte.ht...&submit=search
I've always been an IT and gadget person, and this product is great. A tad expensive relative to keychains, and there are cheaper options, but I love design and the work that goes into a nice product. I wanted to share with my fellow 996ers.
My wallet is another story - I now have 2 due to the number of "loyalty cards". I haven't done the research yet, but I am sure there is something to help with this, like barcodes on your iPhone or something like that....it's a bit lower on the priority list for now.
Sorry if this is off topic, but this is the main forum I visit here, when I want off topic stuff I always return to where I got my start with my first "new" car - a 99 Civic Si, so I hang out at a nameless site (out of respect for the Admins here) because it's NC-17 and some things are NSFW (but labeled).
I want to make a trip to Germany at some point - along with Japan and Amsterdam. Someday....
Nice but I wonder is the top part large enough to hook through the waist loop in my jeans? Amazon ask $25 free shipping. Also on Amazon theres a very simular one at $8 but that top clip looks even smaller than the Troika. You bought the Troika. Does it fit easily through a belt loop in your trousers? Thanks for your posting.
There is an iPhone app for loyalty cards. I don't remember the name.
As for the keychain, I hate keys. I have four on my keychain now and it drives me crazy.
I used to have something like that years ago, but it broke. What I do is use two piece key chains where it has a ring on each end and splits in the middle. I've got several of the exact same one. Car keys (Porsche, truck, MB, jeep) on one end, "activity" (home, bay, ranch, work) keys on the other.
Then I just combine them based on what I am doing and what I am driving.
It works well.
It does fit - the loop is a bit small, but it works on my Levis and also dress pants.
I also bought the other version too - it is plastic, and the Troika is a lightweight metal (not sure what it's made of) - but it is more heavy duty than the other version.
I take the Porsche key off with the quick release so the weight doesn't hang - that's one of the reasons I wanted to get something like this.
Thanks for the person who provided the tip on the iPhone app - I will look into that for sure - thanks!
I used to work at key chain novelty company when I was 20 (wow, 24 years ago.....) - they had the contract for the Dodge/Chrysler leather logo key chain, and that was their main bread winner at the time. You got one or two with every new car you bought, and that's when the first MiniVan was released, so business was booming for this small company with less than 100 people. They had a bunch of people working on industrial sewing machines, and purchased leather hide from a place, and I would go pick up the rolls from the tanning factory. I would get light-headed from the fumes because it was brought back in the owner's station wagon...not good now that I think about it. Probably an OSHA violation now, but at the time it was just doing business.
They used to have a patent on the pull-apart key chain you mentioned - the owner died about 3-4 years ago - they did key blanks, key chains, magnetic hide a keys, and all these were Chinese imports.
It was an interesting time - that's one of the places I learned to apply my hobby in a job - I used to be a jack of all trades, and backed up their **** mini computer, and maintained the small network of DOS computers running DOS WordPerfect and DOS Lotus 123 at the time. Fun times! The LaserJet III was state of the art, and I designed the key chain price sheets with various programs available at the time, and did mail merges with Alpha Database. The owner was trying to do mail merges for a couple years, but his staff could not get it to work, so I looked like a miracle worker when I got that working. Today we take that for granted as it's built into Word. Lol - great place to learn things though - those were the days.
They even got the OS/2 IBM key chain contract - back when Microsoft was working closely with them - I remember that vividly now that this thread brought up those old memories. OS/2 was ahead of it's time, and I think it's still used on some older shop floor systems out there (as well as DOS). I did work at another place that DOS ran some wave solder ovens for making circuit boards.
Regards,
Steve
"Cardstar" is one of the iphone apps for managing barcodes for your loyalty cards. I think there are others. I use Cardstar ,and it's OK, but I usually just resort to giving them my phone number at the register. I never carry the cards...
On a side note, if you are ever in a store where you don't have a "loyalty card", and you want to get the sale price, just give them the phone number "867 5309". Somebody ALWAYS uses that as their fake phone number, and it will come up in their system. I've done it...
I'm begging you guys to stop hanging this sort of thing off your belt loops. Unless you're a maintenance man or janitor you shouldn't hang keys off your belt. Your wives/girlfriends/boyfriends will appreciate the upgrade.
Cool - thanks for the tips. Phone number is probably best rather than a 2nd wallet or apps. I am waiting for the next gen of iPhone before I get one. Work pays for a Blackberry, so I have been using that for 5 years and skipping the phone bill, except for an emergency Blackberry I have with minutes that don't expire for 1 year - for when I need to make calls "off the work network".
