My local shop has PIWIS so I'll see if they can check/reset the steering angle sensor.

I have both the iCarsoft and Durametric software systems but I don't see anything in either one that allows me to test the yaw sensor or even testing the wheel speed sensors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2004 911 C4S with 137k miles on it, most of which have been mine. In the last few years my PSM has gotten more intrusive when I am driving in a spirited fashion. I've raced 911's for years so I know where the limits should be and my PSM is engaging when I am at no more than 6 or 7/10's. I have ohm-ed the wheel speed sensors and all are within spec so I am looking for an alternative cause. I'm suspecting the yaw sensor but I don't know how to test it. I have both the iCarsoft and Durametric software systems but I don't see anything in either one that allows me to test the yaw sensor or even testing the wheel speed sensors. Before I start hanging parts I'm hoping someone can guide me in diagnosing this issue. The issue initially seemed to be only on left turns but has progressed to be both left and right turns. Another reason I suspect the yaw sensor. Any help is appreciated. TIA

POST 2Original post

Check the steering angle sensor reads 0.0 when going straight. If it does not psm will not know when going around a corner and will get very confused. The steering angle sensor can only be read and calibrated with PIWIS. Durametric says it can but they are lying. Likewise PIWIS can read the yaw sensor.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My local shop has PIWIS so I'll see if they can check/reset the steering angle sensor. You say PIWIS can read the yaw sensor. Does this mean I need to reproduce the PSM failure while it is connected or is there a test it can run to determine if the yaw sensor is operational? Just trying to be informed before I take the car in. Thx

POST 4Original post

I have not actually read the value from the yaw sensor. I assume it is a realtime value.
