Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think what you need is commonly called a pigtail, although what you are describing is different from most common vehicles used for years.
Leading evidence: 'Use years' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'bosch or hella part' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair be improvised' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
If it's a contact, it's most likely a Bosch or Hella part.

You should be able to get a replacement repair socket at your local Porsche parts counter.

and this is how changing a blinker bulb takes 16 hours at the shop

Suggestion
Sure, there are all sorts of situations where a connector or socket gets trashed but you don't want to replace the entire harness, just fix the connector.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went to install my chrome coated rear turn signal bulbs yesterday. When I pushed in the new bulb, I snapped the little metal contact at the bottom.
It's the piece that contacts the bottom of the bulb and applies pressure to hold the bulb in place.
Any Idea how to fix? A new rear wiring harness from sunset is $140.
It's a damn shame to have to buy that when the harness is perfect otherwise.
Appreciate the help.

awe crap !
so I had a front turn signal socket that did that, Porsche only sells the whole headlight for what? $1100!
I used a small piece of brass shim stock, bent up and stuffed into the hole... it worked while I tried to find a replacement. I was able to source a used socket out of DC Auto in New York for $10! plug and play, perfect! You might make something to get you by, and try one of the dismantelers????
Sorry dude, thats a bummer
unsure exactly the part you're refering to. If not Porsche specific, it may be available at an auto parts or electrical supply store. Any other German cars use a simular part, VW, Audi etc available for less? Wrecking yard for used assembly?
Can a repair be improvised?

The part I am referring to is the little metal contact at the bottom of the light socket. I was toying with the idea of using the metal clip part of most pens.
I read in another post that someone took the remaining attached metal and bent in up so that it would make contact with the bulb. Issue is that the metal contact kind of broke in half.
I put the bulb in and held it down, and then I blew the fuse.
I then said to myself, "back away and come back another day". That's ususally best for me as the situation would get more expensive.
If it's a contact, it's most likely a Bosch or Hella part. Single or dual filament? You may be able to salvage parts from the right fog light receptical it it has them. I think what you need is commonly called a pigtail, although what you are describing is different from most common vehicles used for years. If nothing else works, you should be able to find a match at a wrecking yard. Just but the socket with a few inches of wire and use butt connectors, or solder and heatshrink.
You should be able to get a replacement repair socket at your local Porsche parts counter. Electrical plugs and sockets are standard bench stock items.

how does that joke go.... how many Porsche owners does it take to screw in a light bulb?
How about cutting the socket off and replacing it with a new one..... just brain storming here.
Yeah, it was one of the "Doh!" moments.
Just called the dealer, you have to buy the whole harness. I could get one from a salvage yard but since they have the harness in the U.S. (as opposed to Germany) I think I am just going to bite the bullet.
