Mine is a 996 and I thing there is more electronically to changing a battery in the later models.

Installed a new battery a while back. I read up on a few things and it sounded like sometimes the gas gauge will not register correctly afterwards. I filled my tank before changing the battery, but it seems like the gauge is off alittle. Does the dealer need to reset the computer? If so, is it a really quick fix? Thanks. Scott

Define "off a little" My guage will show 3/4 tank after going 30 miles, then show 1/4 tank after 250 miles. I've heard this is fairly common w/996's, that is: the 1st half the tank shows more usage than the 2nd half the tank. I just got use to it. I can't answer the battery thing. I've had my battery disconnected about a dozen times w/o issue. Never had to replace the battery yet though. Mine is a 996 and I thing there is more electronically to changing a battery in the later models.

normal.... your next fill will be more accurate as it will calibrate itself. This is similar to the windows/sunroof... you have to reach the limits of open/close before you can use the auto up/down function.

Thanks guys. the guage was on empty and the computer said "0" miles to empty, so I filled it up thinking the tank was bone dry but I was only able to put in like 13-14 gallons. I'll just leave it for a while and maybe it will adjust itself. Thanks again. Scott
