Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use factory dual tips' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with brian at ghl' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Suggestion
I would recommend finding a shop to do it simply because they have a rack or pit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

at idle: Nice purr, and that annoying lifter-like ticking is gone
from a standing start: Nice little snarl
at the beginning of each gear: same as above
deceleration: same as stock
cruising: same as stock
on the gas moderate: Nice song
on the gas hard: reminds me of my racin' days
at max RPM: sharp sound cutoff at the limiter.
you can still hear all the mechanicals, theres just an exhaust note to with it when you accelerate.
sounds are a little raspy with the window down, but I think a month's worth of carbon will mellow it.
if you love the ghl next to a divider or under a bridge, you must indeed try the fabspeed muffler bypass... for all those that have it on their car... all i can say... 140mph, 6000rpm in a tunnel... it's orgasmic.. and when i say that, i'm not kidding... i'm really not... (of course you need to wear ear plugs to avoid going deaf to hear the cops sirens behind you as you exit the tunnel, but it's worth it
)
the other day i was driving downtown and a cop directing traffic put his hand infront of my car and motioned me to stop.. and came upto me.. and told me..
"do you want a ticket?" had to apologize for my exhaust.... (told him i bought the car with it
) he told me to fix it... heh.. the ironic thing is.. i started off as quiet as i possibly could in first gear.. but even as quiet as one can be with the fabspeed muf bypass, it still sounds ridiculously, insanely loud..
Lee-
Where did you get 'em? Did you get the GHL tips? Did you do it yourself (if so, how did the deinstall/install go)? How much should I expect to pay? Thanks!
Chuck
CLum-
Did you put them in yourself? Headers too or just mufflers? Is there a DIY link anywhere for removal of the stock mufflers? Any HP increase published or noticed? thanks!
From Eli at Pelican. I used my factory dual tips. I had it done at a local independent P-Car shop for about $150. Dropped it off for 1/2 day (brought the big box the previous day in my truck)
Not to hijack the thread...but it's interesting that different shaped tunnels have completely different sounds with the bypass pipes. In a square-shaped tunnel, the car sounds like a muscle car and it's so loud you think the walls will cave in on you. In the round-shaped tunnels, it's more of a race car wail. Either way it's
dmgcfg,
I just got the Regular version & the only other mod I have is the Fabspeed coldair conversion. I have a friend who has a muffler shop & he put them on. He said it was an easy install. The old mufflers were easy to remove at the brackets. I would recommend finding a shop to do it simply because they have a rack or pit. The hardest part on doing this yourself is the working space. You need jackstands to do it. If you like +/or handy at this sort of thing though, it's not that hard! The sound is great, you might consider the loud version and the seat of pants dyno says it pulls a little harder above 4K! The only other mods I'll probably do is the B&M shifter & the Revotechnik computer reflash.
