Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I double checked the charger settings, tried the key again, and ..
Leading evidence: 'Check charger settings, tried the key again' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check battery" light' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Charging at the 15-amp level switches on a "check battery" light on the device.

Charging at the "jump" setting, 125 amp, wasn't doing much, either.

Suggestion
If the battery is completely discharged its always a good idea to let the charger bring the battery up to at least a partial charge before attempting to use the "jump" mode.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried to jump my battery using a Sears charger. After about 15 seconds, I turned the key, many lights flashed across dashboard. I didn't like what was happening, so I immediately removed the key. Battery still dead. I double checked the charger settings, tried the key again, and .. nothing. No clicking noises, nada.
The battery was dead to start with, but at least I was getting a click. Now, no click. I definitely did not reverse polarity. Charger amps setting at "jump," charding mode automatic, and battery type on 12v.
Did I fry any fuses, or even the ECU? Is there a master fuse of some sort. Scanned the manual, searched the forum, didn't see anything directly relevant.
Thanks in advance!
OK, I'm pretty sure there's no harm done. The charging device's max amps is 125 in the "jump" setting, which is pretty safe. No breakers blew; the battery must really be pretty dead. So it's charging away now. And when I turned the device on with the key in the starter, I heard the reminder chime go off.
If the battery is completely discharged its always a good idea to let the charger bring the battery up to at least a partial charge before attempting to use the "jump" mode. And the fact that the charger can only source 125 amps doesn't mean the voltage required to source that amperage level isn't too high for the electronics.
A fully discharged battery acts basically to the charger as an open circuit so there is practically noting to load the voltage output of the charger in jump mode until you engage the starter. Once the battery is partially charged it will act as a load and thereby limit the maximum voltage of the charger in jump mode.
Thanks for the insight, wwest.
No luck yet getting a charge into the battery, much less ignition. Charging at the 15-amp level switches on a "check battery" light on the device. Charging at the "jump" setting, 125 amp, wasn't doing much, either. Every five minutes or so, the charger sent a 5 or 10 surge pulse of amps to the battery. Interior lights and devices turn on, but it's not enough to activate the starter. Maybe I'll do better in the morning.
With the battery completely DEAD you need to bring the battery charge up more slowly.
The 15 amp breaker internal to the charger is tripping and if you leave it on overnight the battery will eventually start taking a normal charge.
You and I must have the same sears charger...
