They welded nuts and used penetant on some and drilled them out and used time serts on others.

using stoptech's template, they fit in my 19" sportecs but i will need 5~10mm spacers up front with my 18" champion monolites.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everything was pretty straightforward other than removing the broken header bolts , which I farmed out because I was too timid to go farther than the methods I already employed- liquid wrench with vice grips, extractor/easy out, welding bolts onto studs.

POST 4Original post

Question : Are they that much better than our stock brakes ? I was under the impression that our stock brakes were one of the best. P.S. Nice job, thanks for sharing.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The brakes are insane. I am running cup ducts, pagid orange pads, stainless lines all around, and srf fluid. I had my friend with a CGT drive it and he commented that they feel just like the ceramics-

POST 6Original post

sweet lift man. great job! my stoptechs have been backordered for over a month. they have finally shipped and coming sometime this week, WOOT WOOT! still need clutch hydraulics work and alignment done so i am having akkurat do it all. do the stoptechs fit within your current carrera lightweights? using stoptech's template, they fit in my 19" sportecs but i will need 5~10mm spacers up front with my 18" champion monolites. how did the shop deal with the broken header bolts? where did you get the cup ducts?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The stoptechs do fit in the 02 5 spokes without spacers. I ended up driving back home to SD after getting a quote for 1600 from BH porsche. Extreme motorsports did them after getting an inside deal and no leaks so far. They welded nuts and used penetant on some and drilled them out and used time serts on others. They replaced all the bolts with new ones and used anti-seize so it will never happen again. I got the cup ducts from sunset they were about 100 a side. They clown gt3 ducts in their design and how much air they funnel. They direct it exactly at the rotor nicely. However they hang down really low!

POST 8Original post

SPR, how do you like the headers? are they a worthwhile modification? thx Pete

POST 9Original post

How did the guys you farmed out the stud removal to get them out?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the text above I mentioned they first tried the weld a nut on and using penetrate to help them out. Only 3 came out this way. The other 3 had to be drilled out and have time certs - a superior heli-coil type device installed. I actually really think the headers are legit. I do feel much more pull on the mid and top end. Also I feel more push from the torque all through the torque curve so I am pretty happy all in all. I do feel things more than most. Also B&B advertises the most Hp gain on their muffler and header install but that is whatever, even though they dyno it, because you can minipulate data. On the power and torque increases I noticed it first going up a hill when floring it in a higher gear and having it pull more than I ever remebered under such a load etc.

POST 11Original post

so you have the B&B headers and their exhaust? or just the Headers with some other "sport" exhaust?

POST 12Original post

i felt the same with my headers but dude, now you need the EVO v-flow and giac software. it makes even more of a difference. were you talking 1600 for the stoptechs? that is a killer deal!!! i got mine for 2300.

POST 13Original post

SPR - they look great! Although, I think the lift is really cool. Ps - Glad you got those header bolts taken care of. Hope you were able to salvage some of your break.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks on all the aforementioned. No, the 1600 was for a quote to have the broken bolts extracted- I have gemballa mufflers and B&B headers. I also already have the bmc intake and have had my ecu flashed.

POST 15Original post

ah but the bmc filter doesn't even compare to the EVO v-flow there are 2 giac programs, one without the v-flow and one with. the v-flow program takes advantage of the added air flow.
