Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So with labor to remove the old Tip and install a factory new one will likely leave one no change from a $12000 bill.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Before I pull the trigger on the 02 Targa I need to do the 60K as it has been sitting for a while. In addition, the tranny fluid was at minimum levels and there is a leak somewhere but it doesn't seem to be too serious (could be 30 minutes or 3 hours of labor though). I have been quoted $825 for the 60k and I'll do it but was curious what you all have seen out there. BTW it's a Tip.
I had Park Place Porsche in Dallas quote me about $1,300 and I think that included a brake fluid flush, which it sounds like you should do.
Just an oil change is $200ish and brake flush is another $200 so that's half of your 850 right there.
Targas are cool looking, put up a picture.
Good luck with your purchase.

Agree! That serious of a leak is a deal breaker, imho.
A Tip R&R is thousands. A new Tip runs approx. $9000. So with labor to remove the old Tip and install a factory new one will likely leave one no change from a $12000 bill.
Now a Tip rebuild might be doable but you'd want to price one and I bet you're looking at around $6000 to get one done, if the Tip in the car is a good rebuild candidate. That low on fluid there may be too much wear/tear or even damage to risk rebuilding the Tip so you're looking at a new one.
Sincerely,
Macster.

Why is this the car for you? It's been sitting a long time, with a spotty service record, and has a leak. I would only consider this car if I was desperate for a Tip Targa.
Walk - no wait... RUN! Anyone who would allow the car to sit with a leak - would not even check that the fluid level on the tip is topped up is NOT a car you want. There are so many of these cars out there - cars that people parked because of job loss / could not afford to maintain reasons. Many of these cars (not saying this one is) get dumped from repro's into the fly by night used car lots where they sit until someone like you walks up. These guy's want a quick turn over at minimum expense - 'just a little leak - hell they ALL leak buddy - no worries' you'll hear. They are a dime a doz and are to be avoided. Unless your getting the car as a 'gift' or at half market value and want a 'project', move on to another car that has been cared for. My 2cents.
