Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check anyway' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check anyway' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Check all the fluids, check air pressures, warm it up by a slow initial drive rather than idling in the garage, clean off the rust on the rotors with gentle braking.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone, can you believe it. It has been almost three months since I have driven or even started my baby. I do have a battery tender hooked up. Any recommendations before or after I decide to drive her around? Also, should I be starting it up (once and a while?) Thanks everyone!
For sure you don't want to occaisonally start it up unless you can drive it enough to get it fully warmed up. You don't need to do anything. There are many threads on winter storage here on Rennlist.
Not much to do except a good going over before start up. Check all the fluids, check air pressures, warm it up by a slow initial drive rather than idling in the garage, clean off the rust on the rotors with gentle braking. Moderation is the key for the first several miles. After that, drive it like you stole it!!
BTW, rumours abound about little critters making a home in the small spaces like the radiator area or the cabin air filter. Not sure it's not an adult form of the boogeyman story, but I check anyway. I always did check the closets before I went to bed as a child

First stop is your local source of compressed air. Hopefully, you overfilled the tires, but now they need bleeding. Invariably one is far different from the others. So fill them up and be prepared for 20 miles of driving on unround tires. The brakes will squeal- takes a little longer.
Then. it feels like you got a new car, all over again. Somehow storage is like what it says on the label of Paul Newman"s salad dressing- "Restores Virginity". AS
I took mine out yesterday for the first time in 4 months of winter storage (first nice spring day in Ontario!). Started up just like it had never sat in storage. I do sit it on tire pads, and I did notice the flat spot in the tires briefly. I also agree it is unwise to simply start and idle the car in the winter, but I have been asked whether things will "dry out" if it sits for months on end. Is there anything to this? Also, do you agree with the suggestion of not idling for long before driving and if so, why?
One final thought is DO be careful about mice. I once had mice in an older car I had stored and believe me, they can get in almost anywhere and make a terrible mess. The best suggestion I have is to keep the garage around the car clean and uncluttered as mice do not like being in the open, and not a bad idea to keep a couple of glue traps inside the car & check them periodically to make sure if you do catch one it doesn't rot in the car.
Never start car untill you are ready to put it back in service. Check tires fluids then fire it up and drive away slowly at first. Mine always fires right up after three months like it was never put away. This will be the fifth year. I use tire cradles and have never had any tire flat spots at all.
