Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I have PSE that was installed without the switch in the dash. My car stays quiet from 25 or so to 50. Most of my driving is around town, so as a result my exhaust is always quiet. I have read on 997 forum that those guys are modding their PSE to stay loud through entire speed and rpm range. Can this be done with 996 PSE? How do I do it, and is it DIY or mechanic needed? TIA

POST 2Original post

I remembered reading about this at http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2470

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thenks Newb, I have an even stupider (is that even a word??) question, where are the relays? I just checked where I thought they were but it was fuse box. I hope I have that relay installed and the diode snip solution is really that simple!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, So of course it was not going to be easy!!!! I do not have that relay

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey and I don't want to hear any $#!!## about my color balance... lol

POST 6Original post

If you just want the exhaust to be loud all the time, just unplug the electrical connector to the vacuum switch in the engine compartment. Unplug the brown connector.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Orient you are the man!! Did the disconnect and the mufflers are now on, it is a subtle difference with my tip, because it upshifts so quickly and keeps revs low thus still quiet, but it is nice to hear when you step on the pedal a little. Now, where should I zip tie the brown plug to? and should I put a little tape over electrical connections to keep them safe? And lastly, will this affect CEL in any way or is it purely ancillary?
