Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

well nick my car is stock and ive run 12.8 1/4 mile 3 times, so im sure a z06 can beat me, but he better not mess up the launch, because the z06 and the reg 911 have very close times anyways, the Vett is rated at 12.8 to 13.2 as the stock 911 is 13.0 to 13.4, which is not that much room for error, and if traction control kicks in, then he loses every time because i don't have it

I was running 2:07's/2:08's on crappy street tires to give you an idea about my lap times!

I wasn't running race rubber at my last event so there were a few Z06's in my run group (red) that had a few mods and race rubber that I had to let by.

i've been to open track days with all-manner of z06's--stock, modified, etc--and on a 'fast' circuit, the 3.4 litre 996 will not stay with one for more than a lap or two--unless the z06 driver is in a slower run group or struggling.

If you wanted speed you could make an old VW with a 3.8 993 engine in it run like hell.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I can tell you all exactly where that is. Old Bitburg Air Base, Germany...i know for fact because i was there many summers watching the lil drags. Yes that was an 99-01 GT3 owned by a guy from Stuttgart i do think and the Z06 was a GI from Spangdahlem AB. I was pissed because people in on the fuels hump were like what a waste of money that Porsche got burned...i wanted to smack em but they just didnt know the GT3 is made for the Ring no the strip...it doesnt matter it came from the guys that drive Subaru's and Civics and Del Sol's with gobs of money invested in them to get 5 hp and a shiny engine bay...junk.
Here is a flyer that my boss sent me as i was in Korea for this event since then. The Vette is his a 2000 with some things under the hood pushing about 420 hp. He loves yellow..a Puerto Rican thing? i dont know. Anyways he's taken it to the Ring 5 laps and vows he will never go there again...he cant handle it, too scared the 1/4 mile is his pleasure anyways.

Oh by the way the fastest things i've seen on this taxi way arent the Vette's or the jap cars...nope its the VW Bugs with Porsche engines in the rear. Talk about a good laugh.
i raced a z06 in my old 99 and it was verrry close, in my 03 however i can take a zo6 3 out of 4 times in the 1/4, anything after that or on a track and he will be looking at my dust
well they have quit the advantage, number one on them it doesn't matter that much where you shift, because it has so much torq. it can make up for a bad shift, where as we need to be spot on
Nick, for sure the Z06 would win at the drag strip, I know it would be a different story on a road course where driver skill and the "total package" are most important. I have passed and been passed by Z06s at TWS so I have a pretty good reference point as to the 996 vs Z06 on a road course.
I can't wait to check out the new C6 Z06, it's supposed to have 500 hp.
I Totally agree. Driver can make a HUGE difference, especially on a road course.
I wasn't running race rubber at my last event so there were a few Z06's in my run group (red) that had a few mods and race rubber that I had to let by. I don't hold people up that are able to pass me.
If I had better tires I would have been able to hold them off. I was running 2:07's/2:08's on crappy street tires to give you an idea about my lap times!
i've been to open track days with all-manner of z06's--stock, modified, etc--and on a 'fast' circuit, the 3.4 litre 996 will not stay with one for more than a lap or two--unless the z06 driver is in a slower run group or struggling. both cars are about equal weight and the z06 has 100 more hp. the numbers don't lie.
My brother has the Z06 and its plain fast. Now I might offend some P car owner but get over it a Z06 will beat a 911, not a turbo but a NA cars. OK a GT3 mayabe not. The thing is a 911 is more refined sharper turning and can keep up with them on the track if it dose not have too long of a straight. After driving the Z06 I can safely say its one of the fastest production cars out. The key to thoes cars is that they need to be thrown arround a track compared to a 911 which is piloted arround. Don't get me wrong both cars are fun. A 911 just drives nicer than a Z06 and thats what you pay extra for. If you wanted speed you could make an old VW with a 3.8 993 engine in it run like hell. Dosen't mean I want to drive it all the time.

, and i drove a z06 before i bought my p-car, very nice power, much much much more torq. that the 996, but i still went back to the p-car because it is a much better car, its put together better, it rides better, and it is not all over the streets like some cheap mustang gt you see around every corner and light and stop sign, there are alot of vettes around here anways
My mechanics do a lot of Vette bashing, particularly concerning build quality and design with the Vette. It's pretty funny actually. I can't remember what they were talking about last time... something about the oil pan I think.
Anyways, I have yet to drive either a Z06 or a 996, but as far as handling, which is better? At first I would have picked the 996 right away, but I've heard good things about the Z06 recently.
Personally I think the Vette is ugly, but whatever I think that of most American cars. Big and ugly.
Rob of course a car with a 100 hp advantage will be faster given fairly equal drivers. But that's exactly my point, driver skill is huge on a road course, if the 996 driver is better he will be doing the passing. Unless of course the higher horsepower car will not give a pass on the straight, which as you know happens all the time at DEs
