I recently had the RMS changed under warranty, and they said the intermediate was also leaking and replaced it too.

There is an intermediate shaft seal and a rear main seal. Both are subject to leaking. I have a 2002 911 C4S that sprung a leak and it was actually the intermediate shaft seal and not the RMS. Porsche replaced both.

I'm having my oil pan replaced because it was leaking oil and judged to be defective. All warranty, of course, but I'm curious to see how that pan was in fact defective. Dealer changed gaskets first and that didn't help, and since they didn't know at first where the oil was coming from the did check the seals after they cleaned up the engine. Will be interesting to find out why the pan was defective. Hope it's not a new set of oil leak circumstances.
