Even if you had tried to use the cruise control, it would not have engaged anyway, because you have to get above 35 MPH for it to work.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yes, after a great deal of ambivalence, I've decided to sell my car. I know, I've heard "Damn it, just drive it!!" but I'm not getting the kind of use or joy out of owning it that I should. Someone who simply wants what is likely the best, lowest mileage 2004 C4S in the states will get a beautiful car at a fraction of what I paid in '05. The car is basically new, untouched, never tracked - hell, virtually never driven. But, serviced yearly and is just pristine. I've posted a full ad for it in the classifieds - here's the link.
https://rennlist.com/forums/for-sale...450-miles.html
Phil, As much as I would like to abuse you I agree with your choice, if your not going to drive it and you aren't enjoying the car you might as well sell it at get something that might amuse you more.
Best of luck with the sale, it's a stunning car!.
regardless, I hope you hang around the forum.
Link posted - thanks. I love the TT - primarily since it's a roadster. Very, very different cars. Not sure what's next, but it will be something special.
Exactly my reasoning, Marc. I rationalized keeping it because of how gorgeous the car is, but the fact that I'm really not using it, I've decided to sell it. A number of years ago, I purchased a '65 Jaguar e-type coupe that was fully restored and won a number of concours events - but, because the car was so perfect, it was also rarely driven. My wife kept reminding me that every time she looked in the garage, she could only see a pile of cash sitting (literally) in the garage under cover, so I sold that one as well. I don't want a collector car, just something fast and fun that I'll actually drive. Half the fun is looking for the right car. Thanks for your understanding - it's not an easy decision. I've put an ad up on Autotrader as well.
After owning the TT vert, I really find I love a small roadster to zip around in. The new 340hp TT-RS (if they bring it to the states) should be a great car. The Boxster S really apeals to me as well. Better car than the Audi. Do I sound confused enough??
Its cheaper to just buy a full size Ferrari poster and hang it on the garage walls... it might even get more mileage that way.
Phil, GLWTS... hope to get another run before the summer ends.... gotta put another 300 miles before someone takes her away. She is a beauty!
YES!
BTW, I didn't think the TT is that much smaller than a 996
TT:
Overall length: 164.5"
Overall width: 72.5"
Wheelbase: 97.2
996:
Overall length: 174.8"
Overall width: 70.1"
Wheelbase: 92.8"
It seems the 996 is more than 10" longer than a TT!
The 996's wheelbase is much better (shorter), however.
They still have the "Cash for Clunkers" deal on, right? Let's see -- $4,500 for the Porsche...in today's market? Oh, forget it - I'll just leave my ad up and see if anyone will go higher.
Damn Phil, your timing is horrible for me!
If we didn't still own the house in North Carolina........! How about $1.00 down and $1.00 per week?
BTW, that is the first pic I have seen of your car's interior! BEAUTIFUL!
Seriously, good luck with the sale. I can't disagree with your logic. I wish you the best. I would love to buy your car if my circumstances were different. Then I could show her what it feels like to get "hot and bothered!"
Would you expect anything else from me?
We do need another drive - I've been on the look out for one, but haven't seen anything posted.
Muahahaha! Nice to know I've not lost my touch!
We really need a Rennlister to buy Phil's car so that they can drive it properly, then post photos of the odometer every weekend to show how she loves it when she's ridden hard and put away wet.
Wow. I never thought you'd do it, but good decision.
You may have to lower the price a bit, remember the buyer has to factor in new tires!!!!
I've been out in China for the past two weeks, you should try to sell it out here. I've only seen one Boxster and a whole bunch of Cayenne's not a single 911.
I wonder if Porsche would like it back? They could do some study on the effects of NOT driving the car and compare them to one that has been.... See what is actually caused by driving -vs- just getting old..
Good luck with the sale. I'm curious to see what you get for it. If you haven't done it already, you should put it on autotrader and maybe even the PCA website. There might be someone in the PCA that's looking for one with ultra low miles.
.... or maybe Porsche would want to put it in their museum! All they would have to do is wash the tread on the tires and the entire car would "look like new!"
Phil, if you get an interested buyer you can have him call me because I can verify that hte "little green circle thingie" on the dash works!
Yep, posted the ad on all 3 sites. A few inquiries thus far. We'll see - the market is pretty soft right now. It really is probably the best stock '04 4S in the US. I'll let you (all) know how I make out.
I can't verify that it still works, since I've been afraid to use the cruise control since the first month I've owned the car.
BTW, vacationing in Sundance, UT. Pure God's Country. Rode my friend's BMW GS1200 bike yesterday - OMG I want one. Now to convince the wife on THIS one.
Good luck with your sale Phil, someone will love to own that car. At least you're enjoying the TT vert and you can take your time picking out your next ride that you'll drive even more.
I have an 01 TT roadster quattro. Not happy with the power, handling, brakes, ride, been looking to replace it with a 996 Cab. Only paid $13K for it last year with 50K miles and a new clutch. I love it with the
top down and all these short comings go away. I think its a girls car. I drive it every nice day, leave the top down and drive it hard, if I buy something for like $30K I'll worry about it and probably not drive it much so I think that's the dilemma.
For those of us that aren't members, can you share some photos and your asking price of your car?
And as for the TT-RS, no word yet on it coming to the states. If you want bigger you can go for a RS 5 in late 2010, but no RS 4 this time around either.
I've driven the TT-S quite a bit, and it's a great package. The engine has ample power, but there is a bit of lag at first due to the larger turbo. Also, I think S-tronic is great, but I would want it with a 6MT. You can read a review from my colleague here:
http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publi...cle_4448.shtml
As for your TT, since you have 6MT and S-line I am assuming you have the 3.2 VR6 (which is now dead). I spent a week in that car as well and I absolutely love it. If you like that engine, and it's virtually impossible not to, I don't think you'll like the 2.0T...

The car is listed on Rennlist, PCA Website, and Autotrader. It can be found by searching Autotrader and looking for a Porsche 911 2004 25 miles from zip 19002. That will bring you to my car. There are a number of photos up, and if you're truly interested, I can email you some additional ones. Asking price is $48.5K, but it's negotiable and I will entertain serious offers. The car has 3450 miles and is virtually new. Full description is in the ads. I think this link will get you there:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
I do have the 3.2V6 in my TT and love the engine. It's the only TT that comes standard with a short throw 6speed (only available in the s-line). I did not consider the 2.0 when I bought my car. The TT-RS is intriguing and might be a consideration down the line (if it comes to the states).
I just bought a R1200GS as a matter of fact. Great bike. Only 350-ish miles on it so far.
So here's the deal: a trade. Yes, I know, I just bought it, but your car is awfully pretty, and I can always buy another one.
OK, OK, I can hear it now, this $18K motorcycle is not quite worth as much as your $48K car. But your car is much older, and has like 100 times the mileage. Over 100 times! That's insane! But I'm willing to overlook that, for you, Phil.
And - here's the best part - this is how you convince the wife. First of all, you don't tell her until after I've left with the car (and the title) and you have the signed title to the Beemer. No take-backs.
Second, my bike comes with the rear trunk and integrated back rest. Yes, a comfortable perch for her to join you on the weekend romps along the back roads of Pennsylvania.
Hurry before I change my mind.
Michael
last time I did math stuff 350 x 100 was 35,000
still I think if you are willing to overlook tha age of the car and driver
and do a straight up trade.... you are a good man!
Hey Phil, it's been a while - I think you had 2000 miles on it when I sold my C4S a couple of year ago - I know what you mean about loving to drive the roadster. As great as the C4S is to drive, it's a bit confined in coupe form, especially on a beautiful day.
I'm back in the market after a couple of years out, and after looking at a few 997's, I think I'm going back C4S Cab - I've got a few I'm looking at, the best looking vert Porsche has ever produced IMHO.
I think the price is fair, I hope you get it. It's about what I sold mine for 2 years ago, so it should be about right.
Hi! Long time!! Agree the vert is great looking. I really don't find the coupe confining - just a very different car from the TT roadster. In fact I think the C4S is one of the best looking coupes out there. My price may be slightly high given the current market, so likely will be selling it for several thousand under my asking price of $48.5K. I'm motivated and will sell it for a fair price!! I do have several folks who are interested.
I just did the math. Over my almost 5 years of ownership, my car cost me
$15.31 per mile
to drive/own, not including gas, insurance or storage. To think I could've owned and driven a Hummer for less than that.
...and the solution was to drive the car to offset the fixed costs.
Wow, your wife is cheap this week, does she have a sale on?!?!
Ouch, that was bad, even for me. I apologize.
She already hates both of you. But, if I even consider buying a motorcycle (which I'm doing), she'll hate me more, which will take you both off the hook. Consider yourselves lucky.
