Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a 12 volt source and connected the negative to the door hinge, the postivie connects to a battery connector that pulls out in the fuse box.
Leading evidence: 'Use 12 volt source and connected the negative' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuse' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I use this when disconnecting my battery, to keep from lossing the radio codes and settings.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

keep trying. it happened to me in my 4s and i had to find the 'perfect spot' in order to transmit current. it will work, it just might take some time fooling around with the location. good luck.
Ihave looked for the sweet spot on the contacts to no result there is no power going to the car..The battery in the car is completely dead. Can you trikle charge the battery from the fuse box contacts.?Is there an emergency trunk pull behind the head light?Help!!
Thanks

I don't have a manual handy, but I have done this before. I used a 12 volt source and connected the negative to the door hinge, the postivie connects to a battery connector that pulls out in the fuse box. Once you do that, if the source is charged, you will have enough power to open the hood...

ps. I actually use one of these, not a battery:

I own a Porsche trickle charger. Plugs into the cig. lighter and charges the battery. It has worked for me in this situation before.
Might be time to change the battery?
There is an emergency cable release hidden behind the passenger side headlight (you might have seen it if you've ever had your headlight assembly out). Its a very thin braided steel cable. If you look in between your headlight and the body, as far towards the center of the car as you can you might be able to see the cable and fish it out to release the trunk latch.
You'll have to look in there with a flashlight, its a PITA.
Aha, this happened to me. You can jump it on the engine. There is a positive post there and you can get the car enough power to release the trunk. Porsche Roadside assist didn't even know about it.
The engine compartment is also electronically controlled so you cant get to it with a dead battery. I was told the cable on the newer 996s is on the drivers side behind the fender skirts. The dealer said it will take over an hour to disasemble and find the cable and replace.
Best thing is to charge the battery via the cigarette lighter.
Happened to me about a year ago. Nobody had a clue what to do. Had to flatbed the car to the dealer until they figured out what to do. I tried to jump through the engine too but it didn't work. You might want to try and trickle charge the battery through those posts in the engine. Im not sure if a trickle charger will work but am not sure. After I got the car back, i removed the headlight and moved the emergency trunk release cable so i could access it from the side marker light.

I have seen the emergency release cable procedure detailed with some pictures here:

Do a search for more threads if necessary. It seemed ill-designed but you don't have many options.
I keep in my passenger side pocket a cigaret lighter to cigaret lighter device to connect to another car in the case that happens. Cambell Hausfield makes a combination Air Compressor / Power Supply that includes a connector to go into the cars cigaret lighter socket. I use this when disconnecting my battery, to keep from lossing the radio codes and settings. This will also give you power to pop the hood.
