Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't think a new, clearer photo will change people's minds.
Leading evidence: 'Replace people's minds' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace people's minds' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Changed out the exhaust tips on my '02 C2 Cab to the Dansk sport tips.
Purchased on Ebay from DPS Motorsports.
Some modification to the tips was required for fitment: about 1.5 inches of the cowling on the tips, not visible underneath the car, needed to be cut away because the muffler was encroaching. Apparently this is an issue for some '02 models only. Here's the pic (sorry for the low light):

They're sort of not right. What about the stock stainless steel dual exhaust tips (not sure if I described them correctly), but those stock ones will be one of the first mods that I do when I get the car next week.
I like them
Dansk makes them specifically for the 996 and maybe the picture doesn't show it well, but they
do
follow the contour of the bumper cut out exactly.
I liked them better than the stock dual exhaust tips.
I thought the responses would be more positive
no it's not. i personally think the oem tips that follow the top curvature and flat on bottom is the best look for the narrowbodies. i've yet to see an aftermarket tip or factory tip that wasn't designed for the narrowbodies that truly look good.
sorry
just being honest.
No worries.
As I said, I happen to like them.
Just surprised that those who have chimed in thus far (except BruceP) don't seem to like them, either.
Oh well...
I think this is one of those splits-the-group taste things. A lot of people and car designers like the exhaust pipes to blend into the car, or even be hidden (if you're certain BMWs, for example). And some people like the pipes to look like pipes, like part of the engine (if you're a BMW M3, for example). On a lot of high performance cars, I prefer the latter look. On mine, too. When you see my car from behind, you can't miss the engine... you see stainless steel exhaust plumbing and the engine protection plate, stuff like that. To me, being subtle with the exhaust tips is a bit futile.
Curious, Ben: Did you like the factory exhaust look on your E46?
Bruce,
Good comments. Interestingly, my previous car was an E39 M5. I loved the tips on my M5 and these new tips are very similar looking to those on the M.
Regarding the photo: It was getting dark when I took the picture. Touched it up a bit with Photo Shop (obviously I'm no pro) and wanted to get it on the site for reviews. I don't think a new, clearer photo will change people's minds.
