They sold a set on ebay that I missed for $910 and I contacted them directly to see if they had more.

Almost bought a set a while back for $925 but had to pass.

I need to clear out some inventory, and have 1 brand new set of Fabspeed headers for 996. If anyone is interested in them, drop me a note. Retail for the set is $1495, I can sell them for $1295. They are a straight-forward 1 hour install. If you already have the mufflers, and want to take the next step-this is a great opportunity...

I don't think it was an everyday price. They sold a set on ebay that I missed for $910 and I contacted them directly to see if they had more. They said they lost $$ at the $910 and that they would let me have them for $999. I agreed. I'm sure their everyday price is higher.
Well Fabspeed claims there are. Many other people claim otherwise and dyno's don't tell the whole story. My experience was a VERY noticeable change. There is more power across the power band and smoothness of power delivery is greatly enhanced. Bear in mind that I installed the Fabspeed headers and Maxflo mufflers at the same time. I also have an EVOMS cold air intake kit installed, which is supposed to make a difference when modifying the exhaust.
I would say go ahead and try the headers alone. They are super easy to install and will probably make a difference. Then you can add more later if you like. Try the intake next and the mufflers last (if you don't mind more sound). I wanted more sound and got what I paid for.
BTW, the headers are super well made. You can really tell by examining them closely. I would say that they are the best aftermarket headers for the 996 that I've seen - the B&B ones do not have true "equal length" header pipes as the Fabspeed ones do. I don't know if GHL makes them or what they look like. The B&B ones don't look that much different from the stockers - a bit disappointing.
My next step is an ECU upgrade. I'll be shopping around to see which one I want and from whom.
