Suggestion

I would take the cover off and test the motor with a 12 volt power supply to verify where it could be the problem, or take it to the dealer.

The fuse was fine (replaced anyway, without success).

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After many miles of problem-free service, my rear spoiler suddenly stopped deploying at speed, or with the interior switch . The fuse was fine (replaced anyway, without success). I've searched the archives and found articles on 993 and 964 spoiler problems, but not on (non-turbo) 996 cars. Does anyone have experience with this, and/or are the 996 rear spoilers the same as the 993s? Thanks in advance for any help! Scott

POST 2Original post

I would look at the harness thats in the engine bay, it could be corroded. Remove the harness and inspect both ends, if it looks dirty just clean it up with some electrical safe cleaner. If not could be the motor, a relay or broken wires. I would take the cover off and test the motor with a 12 volt power supply to verify where it could be the problem, or take it to the dealer.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, klrgt! My work schedule has precluded any time to work on the car since this started, but I hope to get on it in a day or two. I appreciate the suggestions! I always like to research the problem before turning the car over to the dealer. Scott
