This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A chip in my windshield has developed a cracked. So it looks like I'll have to get it replaced. Any suggestions on what to lookout for ? Anyone ever had leaks with a replacement ? Just trying to gather all the info before I commit.
Cheers,
Marc
Make sure that your installer removes the A pillar interior covers as well as the defroster vent assembly on top of the dash BEFORE they start cutting out the old windshield's urethane adhesive sealer around the glass. Also they should remove the outside trim bezel around the windshield.
This is especially true if you have the full leather interior. It is very easy to cut into the leather on the base of the A pillar cover or scratch the defroster covers.
Both of these items are held in with single screws and some clips. Make sure that you and the installer inspect these items before and after the install. And make sure they know that the A pillar covers cost several hundred dollars each!
How do I know this? I had a windshield repair a while ago, and found this damage after the instal. I made the installer replace all of the damaged parts on his dime. Needless to say the owner of the place was not too happy to have to pay for his carelessness.
Most Porsche service departments outsource windshield repair to a glass shop. What happens in this case, is that you put the service department in the middle between you and the people that actually do the work.
Just make sure that with who ever you deal with that you tell them to watch out with this. A shop that has replaced Porsche glass should know to remove all of the trim before cutting out the glass.
Your bulleye should be repaired when it first happened so you wouldn't need to replace the windshield. I used a repair kit which was easy and costs only $10.
For replacement, contact your dealer for recommendation. If Porsche glass isn't that much more, I'd get an original replacement. PPG glass is okay but since the antenna is built into the glass, I'd rather spend an extra $300 for a Porsche one, especially if insurance is covering it.
Good tips Gary. As usually, you're always helpful!
Also, there is rope like silicone gasket that goes around the glass under the outer rubber gasket. This is a fix for creaking windshield after replacement from the factory. There is a tech form on this from Porsche.
Good luck
