Again, just my opinion, but I had better luck with a place called Kuykendall's on Evelyn at Mary in Sunnyvale...you might want to check the yellow pages to see if they are still around.

I primarily run my car with the rear spoiler up (I like that "look" and it appears to cool my engine a bit).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi gang,
Leaving work on Wed, I was second in line at a stop sign to make a left. I had thought the guy in front of me went when he started forward, so I looked sideways for more traffic and rolled my car forward - right into his back bumper.
I'm clearly at fault. I'm not trying to weasel myself out of that. His truck is an 11 year old Toyota. He's claiming over $3000 in damages. (HA! Like I believe that one...). Fine. I have lots of insurance and I'm not afraid to use it. I've tried to settle it with him personally but he wanted me to fork over the $3K myself. Not a chance.
My bumper sustained minimal damage (I was only rolling forward...) and my head light is cracked/chipped.
My car is a lifelong keeper, can anyone recommend a *good* body shop in the south Bay area?
Should I go with a Turbo nose now? I primarily run my car with the rear spoiler up (I like that "look" and it appears to cool my engine a bit). Anyone have an AS nose they are looking to get rid of?
Thanks for any info!
Joe
I've had good results with work on 2 other cars (Integra and BMW 5 series) at Mathew Carlsen on Embarcadero in Palo Alto. Luckily I haven't needed any body shop work on my 996, but if I did I'd go to them again.

Total bummer...I'll tell you one place NOT to take it and that is Carlsen's on Embarcadero in Palo Alto down by the airport. Used them once on another car when I lived in PA. What a nightmare for me! Nothing fit. Nothing matched and they really didn't stand behind their work. Work was late, and if I remember correctly, a guy by the name of Paul didn't want to listen to my complaints about how the way things fit. Not real high on my scale for customer service. Again, just my opinion, but I had better luck with a place called Kuykendall's on Evelyn at Mary in Sunnyvale...you might want to check the yellow pages to see if they are still around. (I guess thats 2 for Carlsen's and 1 against).
As far as the bozo claiming 3K in damages...simply tell your insurance company that the guy is attempting to enter a "fraudulent claim of excessive damages". They have a specific way of handling such claims...He won't get far.
Best of luck and stay "original" with the car.
My 1999 C2 Cab is currently in the body shop getting a new rear-bumper (I was rear-ended a couple of days ago). I took my car to:
Automotive Enterprise
191 Industrial Rd, San Carlos, CA
I have never used them before. They were recommended by my mechanic who is a big Porsche enthusiast. There were a lot of high end cars in the lot, so they're used to working on nice cars.
I get the car back on Mon or Tues and can give you an update on the results.
i didn't like emc (in fact terrible, i can see defect from 10 feet away, lazy and has lots of excuses. i can feel tape lines, poor masking etc etc. did not use german paint) , carlsen, yeamen, or german auto body.
bodystyle did my 993c2s, EXTREMELY expensive. my fender blend and front bumper was 3500, it was perfect by any means. my professional detailers (2 of them) and i scrutinized over it for 4 hours under sun light, flourescent light, incandescent light before we picked up the car, perfect.
that was 2 years ago, not sure how well they do now.
Wow, you guys are the greatest. Thanks for all the replies!
I'm going to do the personal grapevine on EMC and Carlsen. Is Carlsen the same as the dealer in PA or is just a coincidence that they have the same name? I've a had a bad experience at that P-car dealership...
Again, thanks guys...
Oh, by the way, Jim, I think you're right in "stay original". Although I have modded the car a small bit, there's nothing I've done that I personally could not undo. Thanks for the advice.
