This also holds true if you have a single row shaft and wish to install a Single Row Pro IMSB into that shaft, as all you'd do is change the installation insert and the work can be completed.

Suggestion
The same goes for the installation of the IMS Solution bushing, which can be dented if struck with a hammer on the edge and that can reduce running clearance and could lead to accelerated wear.

This will allow me to carry out my R&D in a different setting, while doubling as a permanently set up classroom so we can hold our classes on a much more frequent basis, without disturbing the normal activities of the main facility, which is so bombarded with in depth repairs and engine builds that we can't slow down to hold any classes.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The original version of my Faultless Tool had a medieval appearance, but it worked flawlessly, even on the first try.
Seems to be a natural progression.
Discuss...
On another note, I do like the "faultless" installation tool. I think that is nice considering there are more diy guys doing this but also saves some of the sloppy mechanics out there.
This is pretty awesome! It makes me appreciate having companies like flat six that produce this stuff.
I saw it on their facebook page, and I wonder how much it costs versus their "first generation" solution.
I don't want to speak for Jake but I believe this is a "pro" version and seems to be slotted in between the normal single row and the top tier "The Solution" product lineup. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks, guys.
This one has taken a huge chunk of our time to develop and I am so glad to have it released. The Faultless Tool is something that we've been working on since prior to the original "simple" extraction tool that I invented back in 2007.
Since day one we've not favored the installation procedure of the IMS bearings that requires the use of a hammer. People that aren't proficient with the proper use of a hammer can damage the IMSB permanently, leading to a fracture that can lead to a failure. The same goes for the installation of the IMS Solution bushing, which can be dented if struck with a hammer on the edge and that can reduce running clearance and could lead to accelerated wear.
The logical thing to do was to develop a universal extractor that doubled as an installer as well, and that lead to using that tool and its capabilities to fit a dual row IMSB into a single row shaft. The original version of my Faultless Tool had a medieval appearance, but it worked flawlessly, even on the first try.
The Faultless tool IS REQUIRED for the install of the Gen2 arrangement, and those who do not heed this and try to improvise their own means of install will quickly see that what I have stated is real.
This tool is very heavily built and has all the capability to extract and install all of our technologies, as well as extract all of them as well as OEM M96 IMSBs. It has a cost of 749.00, so I don't see very many DIY folks buying it, even if it were offered direct, which it will not be. This tool is USA made, heat treated and is made with a solid chunk of 3/8" plate steel as the foundation, which is required to create the proper rigidity to allow for the Gen2 installation process.
Yes, if you have a standard single row IMSB and wish to install a "Classic" single row IMSR LN Ceramic bearing, then use, this tool will make the extraction and install simple, straight forward process. The same goes if you have a dual row OE bearing and wish to replace it with another dual row "Classic" IMSR LN bearing. This also holds true if you have a single row shaft and wish to install a Single Row Pro IMSB into that shaft, as all you'd do is change the installation insert and the work can be completed. Heck, you can even have an OE single row bearing in place, then pull it and replace it with an IMS Solution, with the use of the tool, just swap the driver inside the tool and there IMS Solution bushing is pressed in with full support.
Our lives have become greatly simplified after killing all DIY/ direct sales a couple of years ago and only providing products and support to distributors. In fact, if we hadn't done this, more than likely the IMS Solution and this Gen2 retrofit would both still be hidden in the darkness, as we'd not have been able to bring them to market. We have released two major IMSR products in less than twelve months, and both of them had been in the works for years. This is on top of releasing our 4.2 DFI based engine and my Gen5 M96 engines with CNC R51 ports, R51 cams and etc. We lost a ton of time and resources by trying to supply everyone.
The Gen2 retrofit kit has an MSRP of 799.00
The Faultless IMSR Tool has an MSRP of 749.00
Distributors will be receiving their first round of product as early as the end of the month. We are already installing the units here at Flat 6 and have been for a while now. The IMS Solution is still our premier product, but with a 1K price gap between the two, the Gen 2 fits some budgets better.
The installation of the Gen2 IMSR, while straight forward, has a definite learning curve and for that reason we have already started training our Certified Installers on the proper installation methods and they will have to be evaluated on the Gen2 install before receiving their certification to carry out this procedure.
I will be adding the Gen2 install and use of the Faultless Tool into my WTI M96 Complete Engine Mechanical Class as well as the Flat 6 Innovations "M96 102 Engine Rebuild School".
The install of the Gen2 technology is greatly discouraged for the DIY installer and no support will be available.
Thats yet to be determined. More than likely both items will be offered alongside each other, so we are able to cover all of the bases price point and feature wise.
Never fear, I am already neck deep into two more developments for the IMSR and one of them is really, really crazy. In the mean time its great to have released another product development and my part of the Gen2 is now done.
Time to go to the next thing... And have fun doing it. The "next thing" is actually adding yet another building to our facility, but this one will be offsite and known as "The Raby Engine Development Advanced Research & Training Facility".
Thanks to all of you who support what we create, without you I'd have to go get a job, rather than living a life that I love :-)
I hope that you guys do.. We'd even give a discount to the first one, to get it into circulation, as long as we don't have to screw with it!
Tool rentals suck! been there!
I'll get the SSF part number that they have assigned to it tomorrow and post it to help you guys order it. Salespeople probably don't know about this yet, we only deal with the purchasing department and they always know whats latest and greatest before anyone else :-)
