Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone... I park my '01 C4 in my garage in my house and I leave my doors unlocked... last night I was in the garage and noticed that the LED light on the mirror was on...
After some experimenting, I found that this light only turns off when I lock the doors with the remote.
I would like to keep my doors unlocked but do not want to burn out the LED's, is there a way to get them to turn off AND have the doors unlocked while stored in the garage?
You mean the reading light?
Perhaps you have a door micro switch that isn't detecting that you've closed the door, and is keeping the interior lights on?
Mine goes out ~1/2hr to 45 min after I take the key out and walk away. Your radio is live for awhile after you leave the car also. Take the key out and then turn the radio on, come back after an hour and see if it is still playing.
Your remote locking system is live for ~5 days before the whole car goes into suspended animation. Then you have to use the key in the door to lock/unlock it and get the key into the ign switch with-in ~20 seconds to keep the alarm from getting excited and hooting at you.
If it is still on an hour later your ign switch may be starting to go bad.
My 2004 Mercedes does the same thing.
LED lights last forever, so don't worry about them.
They also use minimal electricity.
If you leave your trunk open even that (non LED) light will go out after and hour or so.
You probably want to lock your door. The electronic system "kills" more of itself if you do, and keeps several items on constantly if you don't.
Of course, if you don't care, then unlock away. If you go a few days without driving, it's recommended you lock your doors to save your battery.
I usually keep mine unlocked since it's in the garage and I occasionally go for a week or so without getting in it and I haven't had any problems so far, but you DO NOT want to leave the key in the switch. It will kill the battery overnight.
Apparently I killed my battery last week like that. So the nice man at the shop said.
"You left it for 13 days, unlocked? Yep, that'll do it."
Actually, it was locked and it still "did it."
^^^I set the switch so my interior lights do not come on when opening the door. Saves a little battery juice after turning off the car and closing the door.
Seems counter-intuitive that locking is less of a drain than unlocking. When you lock the car, the motion sensor is on. What things are on when the car is unlocked that are switched off when the car is locked?
