Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

side regulator for my '04 C2, but my problem was just a loose fastening point on the glass - so didn't use the new regulator.
Leading evidence: 'just a loose fastening point' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'just a loose fastening point' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect airbag' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You can reconnect the airbag & battery to operate the window, just remember to leave the battery disconnected for a while again when you remove it to avoid the code.

Suspected cause
If you're hearing noises from the power window, the likely problem is the regulator mechanism.

Suggestion
Yes, if you disconnect the airbag and reconnect the battery with the airbag still disconnected, it will trigger an airbag light.

It started making the cracking sounds when raising and lowering, then a few days later would sporadically fail to bob the window down/up when opening the door (but the motor could still be heard to run), and then a few days after that made even louder cracking noises as it lowered the window one evening.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello folks.
I have a ugly noise problem with the passanger window when its going up n down, have someone had this problem and could tell me what could be wrong?
And is there a DIY how to open the inside of the door?
Regards
If you're hearing noises from the power window, the likely problem is the regulator mechanism. Ugly sounds are usually followed pretty quickly by the mechanism becoming inoperative. There is a DIY for the Boxster
here
. It's a pretty good start. Door panel removal isn't that difficult, and replacement of the regulator is trivial once you have the thing exposed.
Its like a cracking noise , like if something is on its way to crack, same noise everytime it goes down or up, the first 5cm is noisefree tho.
Any idea guys?
Yes I did , but if the mechanism is giving up shouldnt show some slower moves or something like that?
I just dont want to open the whole door panel and realise that I cant find the error =/
The one on the driver's side of mine had several symptoms. It started making the cracking sounds when raising and lowering, then a few days later would sporadically fail to bob the window down/up when opening the door (but the motor could still be heard to run), and then a few days after that made even louder cracking noises as it lowered the window one evening. After that, it couldn't raise the window at all. I suspect the cracking noises were caused by the wire winding in the take-up spool for the Bowden cable, but I didn't disassemble the spool to verify.
In any event, I don't know how you'll troubleshoot those noises without pulling the door panel.
I'm pretty sure you'll generate a bag fault if you power up the car with the key with a bag disconnected. Depending on your shop, that might be cheap enough to correct. But really, unless something weird is going on in there (e.g., debris or a loose bolt), the regulator is almost certainly at fault. You should be able to get the part for about $200.
Yes, if you disconnect the airbag and reconnect the battery with the airbag still disconnected, it will trigger an airbag light.
It's no big deal, just get your mechanic to clear the light, he might do it for free, or charge you half hour labor.
Here you go NOBY, This is for removing the door panels:
Using the Framemaker RTLL plugin, of course. Unfortunately, the assembly instructions also use the counter-clockwise diagrams, so who knows what's going on with that.
Guys, is the regulator part # 1 i.e. 996 542 075 04?
I think mine is dying from what I've read. Also, looks like the link above is dead, so if anyone knows of an updated link that they can point me to I would appreciate it - if not, I'll go digging later.
Thanks in advance!
Update: everything seems to poit to that dead link, even Renntech.
NOBY: There is also a good DIY article over at the Pelican Parts site, and videos on youtube. Remember to use a heatgun or hairdryer when removing the insulation panel to avoid damaging it so it can be reused. You can reconnect the airbag & battery to operate the window, just remember to leave the battery disconnected for a while again when you remove it to avoid the code. I recently bought a pass. side regulator for my '04 C2, but my problem was just a loose fastening point on the glass - so didn't use the new regulator. If that will fit & you want it at a good price send me a PM. (if it makes sense to ship it to Sweden). Good Luck
