Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, frunk is locked, but rear deck is open. Can I safely attach my portable charger to the engine compartment terminal? Hoping to get enough juice to pop the frunk and replace the battery proper-like. '02 C2 btw.....thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Evidently, locking yourself out of the frunk is in fashion this week. There's another active thread on this subject right now: Link Btw, why not do a quick jump start rather than wait for the battery to get a nominal charge? Start the car, pop the frunk, shut the car down and voila...you're in. -Eric

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Would love to, but have no other car or battery to jump with at the moment. Just want to make sure there is no harm in using the porta-charger in this fashion.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, for the record, it worked. Not sure that I would advise charging this way, but it did provide the necessary juice for popping the frunk.

POST 5Original post

There's nothing at all wrong with this method; electrically, there's no different between jumping at the battery terminals vs the alternator. It's actually a bit safer, since there's no risk of a failed battery exploding in your face! Porsche's recommended method, though, is to use the little jumper tab in the fuse panel by the driver's left foot.

Nice to know - thanks. Guess I should go read my owner's manual...

POST 7Original post

Why read the owners manual when you have a great forum like this?

POST 8Original post

So true! (and the forum is way more entertaining)

It's a really dinky little terminal, just enough to let you jump your frunk. You're still supposed to jump your car at the battery. Lot easier to get to for a layman than the alternator, though, I guess.
