Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Performed · outcome unconfirmed

Since the DME was replaced there's always the possibility that the connection to the vehicle speed sensor is bad.

Suggestion

I'm sure in some reference there are (probably) steps to check for voltage level, resistance, and so on but I have none of the those references.

Leading evidence: 'Replace since the dme' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check voltage level, resistance, and so' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion

If the error codes indicates a specific wheel and sensor then you need to visit that corner of the car and remove the wheel or get the car safely in the air and check wiring/connector from the sensor.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

guys supposedly had bad dme. replaced and now the code p0717 is coming up. i know that it is the input speed sensor not communicating. what is this and what is the cure? thanks again

POST 2Original post

Not anything in my references on this specifically so I'll have to wing it. If the error codes indicates a specific wheel and sensor then you need to visit that corner of the car and remove the wheel or get the car safely in the air and check wiring/connector from the sensor. Since the DME was replaced there's always the possibility that the connection to the vehicle speed sensor is bad. The connection might have been bad before or in installing the new DME the connector was damaged. Which reminds me: Why was the DME replaced? What symptoms/diagnosis was used to determine the DME was bad? That's it. I'm sure in some reference there are (probably) steps to check for voltage level, resistance, and so on but I have none of the those references. At least for your model. I found something similar for my Turbo in my Turbo references but the specifics are almost certainly different for your car. Sincerely, Macster.

Next time you want to ask a technical question, please post the model year and model type. I had to search through your old posts to find that it's a 2000 C4 Tip. Find attached P0717 diagnostics.
