Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wanted to pass along a big thanks to everyone who posts helpful information on these forums. After picking up my 03 C4S, the clutch seemed unusually stiff to me. the guy I bought it from had put a new one in, so i was like Then after reading about the clutch spring that everyone is unhooking for better feel, i wondered if the previous owner had done this. Sure enough it wasn't unhooked but the spring was broken in three places! So even though my Indy said I needed a new clutch, I just need a new spring. Again, just wanted to pass along the thanks, now if someone could just figure out my shimmy in the steering when I hit bumps it'd be a perfect car!

POST 2Original post

That's a relief, now you can spend that money on some other mod...

it's called road feel. It depends on what you are used to and how bad it is. You do get more feedback than say a Mercedes. Make sure your air pressure is right. Also, bushings may be worn or it could be a bad shock.

POST 4Original post

Start with a good road force balance & check for runout

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

had road force balance done today. Verdict....NO HELP. I'm going to try shocks next up front to see if that helps. Have compared it to my patients' 997 C4S which is running 19", H&R springs and his car doesn't do what mine does. only does it when going over something like a seam in the road, like where a bridge is and i have to be doing at least 60Km/hr, the faster I go the worse it gets. maybe it is just road feel or bump steer but the car doesn't jump around, just the steering wheel shimming in my hands for a few times, then stops.....

POST 6Original post

Let me know if you find anything wrong. That sounds like mine. It never feels unstable, but I do get a little "feedback" if I hit a bumpy patch through a sweeper at speed.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey SSST, I get the same thing, but I would call it more than a 'little' on my car. I will let you know once i get the new shocks in. might take me a week or so.
