Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an '02 C2 that has run pretty much without major issue. The past few weeks I have noted some odd electrical issues just after start-up ... some turn signals don't work for a few minutes, then work fine ... my side windows pop down as if I'm opening the door when the starter motor is running ... things like that. Then yesterday I started the car, moved it, and turned it off (it seemed a little "weak" when starting - like it barely wanted to turn over). When I went to start again it didn't have enough electrical power to turn over the engine. 11 volts showed up on the alt guage. I disconnected the battery and charged it with a good automatic charger (and checked to make sure each cell had proper fluid level ... also checked to make sure I had the radio code before disconnecting the battery ;-). Once the battery charger showed a full charge (hours later) I hooked everything up and expected the car to start. But noooooo! Still less than 11 volts on the alt guage. Is it possible I have a battery that is now past its useful life? The battery is 6 years old and the car is used daily for a 3 km commute. Any thoughts?

POST 4Original post

Absolutely, if it doesn't read above 13 volts, it's time for new one. When my battery was dying it did exactly the same things, Freaked me out at first as the window motor kept clicking over and over, like it was going to burn up. Don't get another Porsche one. Go either Bosch or Duralast. Under $100.
