I have to say, that is probably the nicest Porsche interior I have ever seen.

I painted it using Krylon plastic paint and it came out pretty good, but it's more grey than silver.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I picked up a center console from Ebay for the purpose of painting it to match the aluminum trim in my 2000 C2 Cab. I painted it using Krylon plastic paint and it came out pretty good, but it's more grey than silver. I was getting ready to start over when it occurred to me that a bright, shiny console might not be a great idea in a cab. I'm wondering if there would be too much glare when driving with the top down.
I'm looking for input from any cab owners who have done this mod.
I have my console in midnight blue to match the exterior. I'm not sure if it's helpful to you but I can post a pic if you'd like. I think it looks great especially with the top down and the sun on it, and there is never any glare, it was professionally painted with a clear coat.
I think it would be a big mistake. That's going to add a significant amount of glare inside the cockpit that you just don't need. How about covering it with something classic like leather, instead of just another paint job?
That's a load of crap. There's no glare. I have the OEM package that includes the rear center console, the door lid covers and pulls, and the steering wheel. I'll post a pic shortly.
Thank you!
Well I removed the console myself and had a body shop where I used to work do the paint work. The soft touch material was a pain in the butt to prep and had to be feathered. If I were to do it again I would media blast it so you have the fresh plastic to work with, than paint it. That would eliminate a lot of time in prep.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll give it another go, this time I'll try to scout out "Arctic Silver", which I believe is the closest thing to the factory aluminum trim. This was my first attempt painting something like this and it came out pretty good, just not the color I wanted. The console I bought was unpainted but I should have sanded it down anyway, as it has some texture to it. I'm not going to strip it, I'll just sand it smooth and repaint.
Any suggestions as to something that might match the aluminum better? I'm even entertaining the idea of wrapping it with silver carbon fiber. That might be interesting.
I had pretty good success fixing a shifter surround with the following Dupli-Color VW Diamond Silver (P/N 8802029)
