it was the ebay model so it was half of what you paid, but clearly the oem is superior in every way.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Then took it out to my Harley and tried to light is up with wires off the battery and it worked.
Thanks. Carnewal wants 99 euros plus 17 for shipping. Bumper plugs wants $99. With the $$ in the toilet, buying from Europe is problematic. Let's hear if for the shrub and darth vader
Could be just mine but they don't seem to be Hella products and mine fills with moisture when it rains
, must say they look much better than red.
By the way there are two on a 996, the other is visible when the spoiler is up
I bought two from Carnewal about three years ago, LED's. They worked for a year or so, then went bad. Tried to get some advice from Carnewal on how to test them or fix them. Never got a response. $250 down the drain.
Time to resurrect this old thread. Never did get any sort of response from Carnewal in spite of numerous emails so I have had these two clear brake lights sitting in my parts bin for 3+ years now. Was bored today so I decided to fiddle with one. Tired a 12 volt charger but could not get it to light. Took it apart with a single edged razor blade and removed the led strip. Could not see any faults bu still would not light up. Then took it out to my Harley and tried to light is up with wires off the battery and it worked. Reinstalled the one I had not taken apart and it seemed to work intermittently. Then fiddled around with the connectors in the light and the socket and now it works fine. The problem seems to have been in the socket and the leads on the light, they are slightly different from the OEM, a little thinner.
Now I am epoxying back together the disassembled one to reinstall it (tomorrow, lost the light tonight). So If you are having problems with yours check the connections in the sockets. Mine had quit working all together in the past even if the socket was wiggled. Clean everything out and bend the contacts a bit so they make better contact.
Still a little frustrated that I never heard back from Carnewal.
I actually bought a set of smoked LED third tail lights on ebay... I don't recall the seller... and they were plug and play. They work great and they look great.
Doug, you are correct. When my aftermarket were intermittently working, I compare the oem vs aftermarket. The male plugs on the aftermarket were thinner. I bent the the plugs in a way where it would make a better contact and worked. After a few months, it didnt work again. I am sold on the oem one.... it never failed. Now, Im thinking I should use sodder to make the aftermarket plugs thicker... it was the ebay model so it was half of what you paid, but clearly the oem is superior in every way.
