Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, new owner intro here; pristine 1999 C2, blue & beige, ~40K miles, no winters, clean history, great records...lucky find after looking at many. She joins a supercharged Lotus Elise and a garage queen Triumph TR6 in the fun fleet...this should actually be a fun car that actually has some utility! We wanted a fun car that we could enjoy with the 4 year old. I got tired of the looks when I'd say couldn't take her in the other toys...plus, to put it mildly, my Better Half never quite warmed up to the Elise... Great forum here, it was invaluable to my researching these cars. Look forward to getting involved. W a few pics from when we picked her up:

POST 2Original post

Welcome! I know the feeling about having a car the family can enjoy. I regularly take my kids and wife out in my Cab.

POST 5Original post

Nice... and i'm sure the 4-year old will love it too!

POST 8Original post

Great looking car you got there. Must be real nice. I know it was nice to finally be driving a great road car when I got mine. Did the camera mess with the color a little or is it actually that color? My car seems to like to change colors depending on the light.

POST 9Original post

Nice looking 99 Porsche, welcome to the insanity.

POST 11Original post

Welcome, nice fun fleet, are you a airborne pilot also?

POST 13Original post

WELCOME!! Great intro and sounds like you did your homework

POST 14Original post

Welcome! Your car is exactly like mine minus the white gauges and tan floor mats. I even have the trash in the passenger door storage.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the welcomes folks. answers to the questions: yes, the picture is pretty close to the exterior color, great combo but the beige/blue interior did take a few minutes to appreciate... i am a hobby pilot and airplane addict. fly the typical Piper/Cessna birds and volunteer at a small museum that gets me some stick time in a T6. Flight time is down sharply since offspring arrived. Mods? no, no, not this time...nope..I'm past that..just as i pledged w/ the Elise (before the s/c, exhaust, 2 pc rotors..), the 328is (until the M and Dinan parts started arriving), the 318ti before that (until I...... i tend to be a conservative modder sticking to factory, OEM or equivalent parts... w

POST 16Original post

Don't molest her too much, just enjoy her natural stock qualities... (That was hard to type without laughing. Who am I kiddin', they ain't enough hours in the day or dollar bills to satisfy all the potential mods on these cars)

Nice car, welcome to the club --- er . . the obsession!! Yes, no mods for you!! It took me exactly 6 weeks of enjoying my stock targa to realize that "I can do a few nice mods for only a few hundred - make that thousand - dollars that will make this car uniquely mine." But whether you do or don't, you'll love having the 996. ENJOY!! larry

POST 18Original post

WOO HOO - I am not the only one (although mine is in restoration mode). Welcome. Yours is my favourite colour combo.

POST 19Original post

Looks great, your daughter should love it, mine does. Recaro makes a nice little booster seat that fits well back there. Some wheels would transform the looks, but have fun with 'er!

POST 20Original post

My 8 year old and 4 year old love the car. My daughter loves accelerating through corners. Must be neat being in the back next to the engine noise. Even my wife likes the car -- not as high revving as the M3 I replaced, so smoother transition between gears. I still rev it a bit if she's trying to put on her lipstick with the visor mirror!
