Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought my car with 25,xxx miles and at the time the front speakers only worked. I was informed that the amp needed to be replaced and so I purchased a used one from a fellow Rennlister. I had the amp installed today and I am getting some feed back from the back right speaker. With the key in or out of the ignition, this will occur when the stereo is on and even when the stereo is off. When I lock the doors, there is no feed back coming from that speaker. When I unlock the doors and there is power to the speaker, a signal or something is being sent to that back right speaker (even with stereo off). Needless to say, I am trying to figure out if it is a speaker problem, amp issue or what. TIA

POST 2Original post

there is not an input device that would cause feedback...... how weird. But even so that source would have to be selceted like if someone had a cheesy adapter on for a hands free phone.. That would have a microphone.. But even so you would still have to select that source to get "feedback". Are you using an FM telephone hands free by chance? maybe it is acting up and transmitting on your favorite radio station? But why only one channel? I dont know... what you are saying isnt making any sense to feedback? Are you SURE it is "feedback" and not just a squeel from the rear channel? If that is the case, I would say the squeel is coming form the source and the source would be the head unit.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

SharkA, Thanks for the post. I am not sure if you would classify it being "feedback" but iit a crackling, buzzing noise. It is definately not like the sound we would hear from a cell phone on your computer speaker...

POST 4Original post

Look for a grounded speaker wire. Inspect the wire going to that (those) speakers, make sure the speaker terminal is not contacting the sheet metal either.

POST 6Original post

Read up on the amps install instructions and warnings. Some are specific on individual grounding or pair grounding. Instructions are often still available at manufacturers websites or other sources online.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
