Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have the checked the centre consol to ensure that it is shut but that seems to be firmly closed.
Leading evidence: 'Check centre consol' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check centre consol' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

I have checked the other threads but nothing appears to be a similiar problem.

A couple of things you can check: Feel the carpets on the floor under the seats and around the bottom edges of the doors for any signs of dampness.

Suggestion
In some cases disconnecting the sensor's connector then connecting it again "fixes" the problem by removing the surface corrosion and improving the electrical contact.

I'm going to let the local dealer's service department sort these problems out, replace the suspected sensors/switches.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am having a problem with my 996 C4 (1999). The key fob fails to activate/deactivate the alarm and central and I am met with 2 horn beeps instead. I can open the drivers door and drive the car but am unable to use the windows, open the passenger door and the boot lid!!!
I also get 2 beeps each time I lock and unlock the car using the key. I have the checked the centre consol to ensure that it is shut but that seems to be firmly closed.
Any ideas? I have checked the other threads but nothing appears to be a similiar problem.
Thanks
One or more sensors associated with the non-functioning hardware are "bad". I put "bad" in quotes cause the problem may be due to a compromised electrical connection due to age of the connector and some surface corrosion.

A couple of things you can check: Feel the carpets on the floor under the seats and around the bottom edges of the doors for any signs of dampness.
A door seal leak, a window seal leak, trashy drain basins located under the plastic cowl covers at the base of teh front glass that let rain or wash water in or back up and flow into the cabin which of course can be the source of this dampness or moisture.
Give both doors a good shake listening for any sounds of water in the doors.
If you find any evidence of moisture you need to dry the car out thoroughly and of course find the source of the leak and fix it.
Pretty sure a shop equipped with the right diagnostics computer (PST2) could id the problematic sensors.
The center console switch/sensor is probably bad. Also, absent any water at least one or more sensors/switches in the door are going bad.
My 02 Boxster's console switch acting up. The lid is closed securely but the switch/sensor just doesn't register this all the time. Sometimes it behaves itself, other times...
More recently the passenger side glass either doesn't drop when the door opened or it drops then before the door can be opened rises again. Or it rises after the door has been opened and if one doesn't catch this in time when the door is closed.. Oh my it sounds like the glass ought to shatter. So far it hasn't but I'm gong to have the door glass problem looked into this week, maybe today if I can arrange to get the car in before work.
I'm going to let the local dealer's service department sort these problems out, replace the suspected sensors/switches.
Sincerely,
Macster.
