Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Get a large syringe or similar suction device and connect a large gauge hypodermic (I use a trocar) or plastic tubing on the end.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have what eems to be an internal 'cup' covering the opening to the brake master cylinder just underneath the cap on my 996 C2-preventing the addition or removal of any fluid. It turns a little with a racheting sound but I cannot pull it out. How do I remove it so I can bleed the brakes and replace the old fluid? thanks--rtrent

POST 2Original post

Can you post a picture? That doesn't sound right. There should only be a screen in the way, which comes out easy, but even that you can (should) poor new fluid thru. If you want to suck out the old first, then you'll still need a syringe or something with a needle, I still haven't found a turkey baster small enough to fit. If using a motive power bleeder, you can push the old fluid out with air only in the tank, making sure NOT to let any air past the bottom of the reservoir. Take out the panel inside the luggage compartment to get a full view of the reservoir so you know when to stop the air, and put in fluid.

POST 3Original post

Get a large syringe or similar suction device and connect a large gauge hypodermic (I use a trocar) or plastic tubing on the end. If you don't have access to medical equipment then look in cooking stores for a meat injector, which is basically the same thing. http://www.amazon.com/Steven-Raichle...5473790&sr=8-3

POST 4Original post

Put 2 small screwdrivers on opposite each other inside the master cylinder and outside edge of the cup and pry up. It will snap out. I have the same thing in my 99. Rick 99 996C4 87 944S
