Although I just replaced the clutch & RMS, so I'm sure that should help somewhat.

I found some used (that look like new) OEM 997 Sport Design wheels for $650 & am wondering if I should buy 'em & trade mine out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found some used (that look like new) OEM 997 Sport Design wheels for $650 & am wondering if I should buy 'em & trade mine out. Does anyone have pics of a blue 996 with these wheels?? Preferably Cobalt Blue Metallic? Or anyone here got good photoshop skills?
Right now my car has some cheap Monarch wheels the previous owner put on, although the truth is I get a lot of compliments on them.
What do you guys think?? Should I switch to the Sport Designs or just get Porsche center caps on mine so no one knows they're Monarch? Lol.
These are the ones I found:
You guys really hate the wheels on my car that much? Lol.
...Ya, I think I'm gonna buy them. I was going to spend almost $200 on the colored crest center caps, & a couple hundred to refinish my wheels which have major curb rash (guess the previous owner never looked at the curbs when turning). So instead I should just spend the money on these sweet wheels. I figure even if they don't look good, I can just resell them later without losing money since I'm getting a good deal on them, plus I'll get the colored crest caps I wanted for free out of the deal
Anyway, so no one has any pics of a 996 with 997 Sport Design wheels?? Preferably Cobalt Blue Metallic like mine, or any blue for that matter? Thanks.
Here's a pic of my former car. Not cobalt blue, but it'll give you an idea on what it will look like.
I'm in agreement that you should get rid of those wheels.
They look sweet, thanks for the pic! So why'd you get rid of it? I'm not a big fan of the MKI's, but I have to admit that is an awesome looking car. The aerokit really changes it, & so do the wheels.
...Ya, I don't know what it is about the wheels on my car, I mean they're kind of like a BBS style knock off, but for some reason they just look a little ghetto, like something a ricer would use, which is definetely not the look I go for.

It was the smart thing to do. I was never in town to drive it. Also got a good price for it.
Hoping to get something else next spring.
That's alright, my wheels hate you too, lol jk... Don't worry, I hated them too from the moment I saw them, but then so many people complimented them that I was like "eh, I guess they're not that bad then," but now that I think about it, I just remembered that all the people that did the complimenting have bad taste, haha.
Hey Marc, I remember when did a post looking for a well-priced MKII aero, you said you were in the same situation. Any luck??
I vote for you to get a Turbo so you can rejoin the

Oh my shame...
Personally, I like the look of the Monarchs. Call me Ghetto, I guess. Never understood conservative looking exotics, anyways. LOL
I don't shame easily so I will sport my Monarch's proudly knowing full well that the Porschephiles are laughing at me not with me. Won't be the first or last time.
Nope, I ended up buying new factory Aero front bumper and side skirts and an MASHAW Replica wing, car is at the shop getting it installed.
About $3300 in parts.
Ah, not bad. How much is paint & labor running you, if you don't mind me asking?? 'Cause I want to do mine, but I think I'm going to keep looking around hoping I find a nice used one, maybe I'll find one at the Porsche Dismantler that's 2 hours from me, in LA.
Oh, & post pics once you get your baby back! I love the look of the MKII 996 aero, IMO it looks better than the 997 aero, but that's just me, & we all know I'm biased since I have a 996, plus I'm crazy. So ya, biased & crazy, that might be why.
$1750 for install, this includes talking care of a few scratches, doing the hood to remove the stone chips and blending the paint.
Should be ready today!!
Just remember to make sure any used parts are at a really good price since the body shop will need to do additional work to prep and repaint and what may seem like a bargain may not be quite cheap after that, just my .996 cents
aerokit would look incredible in Cobalt blue!
Here is a quick P-shop. The pic I took the wheel from was a little darker that your pic which is why the Sport designs look a little grey. BTW - the Sport Designs look MUCH better, and the red calipers also help. < hint hint >
Lol Tim, good Photoshop. Ya, the 997 Sport Designs are my favorite OEM wheels so far, I was going to add them, but I'm not going to be doing any mods to my car as I'm putting it up for sale soon. I did do the red calipers though, & I'm about to paint the center console since I had already ordered all the stuff.
The 996 is great, I love it. The only reason I'm selling it is to upgrade to a 997S. Although I'm tempted to get a V8 Vantage or an F360 as they're also in my price range. The only thing that scares me is the maintenance/reliability, not so much because of the cost, but because of the time in the shop since whichever car I choose will be my daily driver, just like my 996 is right now. I need a car to drive, not to stare at. Another thing is I'm a road trip guy, & breaking down in a car like that on the way to Vegas doesn't sound fun. P-cars really are the perfect everyday "exotic."
The Carrera Sport wheels are, IMO, the best looking wheels thta Porsche currently offers. Here is how they would look on your Cobalt 996. If I were getting a 997S, these would be my wheels of choice.
Wow, those do look really good, other than the fact that they clearly need an alignment, lol. When I get my next car, whatever it ends up being, you can photoshop it to see what sideskirts, wheels, etc. I do, haha. Although that'll probably be a while, since I'm pretty sure it'll be a pain selling my car in this market right now. Although I just replaced the clutch & RMS, so I'm sure that should help somewhat.
